On tap @ City Beer. Mahogany pour with an off-white head. Nose is sweet toffee and dark fruits such as raisin and plum. A decent caramel note, some light spice, and plenty of toast. Flavor is dominated by the sweet malt base. Lots of toffee and caramel. Heavy dark fruit character and a bit of syrup. A touch of spice and roast. Theis (15152) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAY 4, 2011
Bottle at Papsø’s - Thanks. Clear amber/brown - white head. Fruity, raisins, dried fruits, roasted, nutty, coffee notes, red berries, ryebread notes, light bitterness. bhensonb (15088) - Woodland, California, USA - JAN 15, 2007
Light piny hop aroma, backed by some sweet malt. Very dark copper color with a vigorous beige head that laces a bit. Starts balanced: hop and malt arrive together. For me this is not a common experience. There is spice and a hint of dark fruit - but just a hint. Medium mouthfeel. The finish is light fruit with malt backing. Yet there is hop presence. Very good. Bottle poured a clear dark copper with a lasting amber head. Aromas of fruitiness, carmel, light chocolate and a light hint of spice. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of cocoa, carmel, fruitiness and toffee with a smooth malty finish. djd07 (14366) - Houston, Texas, USA - MAR 4, 2008
Bottle. Pours a cloudy dark amber color with a medium creamy light tan head. Not too much on the nose but light caramel. Sticky lacing on the glass. The taste is a malty with a bitter finish. A good English Strong Ale from Bridgeport.
