Lighter bodied than I was expecting for a winter beer. Poured from a bottle lighter in color than expected. I'm used to "winter" beers being thick and heavy. This is not. The aroma screamed west coast to me. I specifically smelled and tasted Chinook as flavor/aroma hops. Chinook in a winter warmer? Yes, my friend, BridgePort succeeds. Light is body, and hop character is moderately strong with the bitterness as low. This beer is not thick and syrupy, but crisp and dry. I get plum character in it. Very nice. I need to make a "winter warmer" like this. Reid (2536) - Salem, Oregon, USA - NOV 2, 2003
A most attractive ale in the glass nice garnet colour with a large off white head that stays..
Very nice fruity aroma.. malty
mm nice sweet creamy malt taste at first then a almost IPA like bitterness as the hops spring out of no were..then a rather nice mellow alcoholc warmth in the throat.
Very smooth on the palate..nice
Quite drinkable tonight ..theres a wee bit of chill in the air and this goes down well. GreatStelle (363) - Chico, California, USA - DEC 1, 2003
A very nice malty flavor. The color had a nice red hue. A nice medium to full body. While it was a little syrupy it was very good. milljame99 (24) - Corvallis, Oregon, USA - MAR 28, 2004
UPDATED: MAY 9, 2004 Pours an amazingly huge head that quickly dissaptes. Appears very dark, when held to the light is an almost translucent very deep red. Has a wonderfully sweet nose. Very rich and creamy and finishes a bit bitter for a perfect cap to a cold winter's night! BuckNaked (1230) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - DEC 5, 2004
UPDATED: DEC 20, 2006 Bottle: reddish amber with a small off-white head. Aroma: grass, leaves, berries, spicy pine, citrus. Taste: spicy yeast, grass, pepper, grains, grapefruit, hops, roasted malts. Dry finish. 3. Re-rate: On tap at Papago brewing 12/2006: Same appearance, though showing some nice fruity scents in the nose: apples, berries, strawberry, as well as expertly proportioned hops (tasting very much of the English variety to me), earthy, grassy hops that blend perfectly with the sweet fruit and some earthy caramel malts. Taste has just the right amount of sweetness in the form of caramel, cola, light chocolate malts, strawberry, blackberry, and apple/fig fruits, counterbalanced by some mild grassy/bitter, earthy & floral hops. This one is much better on tap, or it’s improved better years that I’ve tried it. Light-medium bodied, moderate carbonation. This one is so spot on for the style, it’s hard to believe it’s made by an American brewery, particularly in the hop-abused west. Well done.

head dissapates slowly and leaves a thick even glass coating lace.
Aroma is fruity, hoppy, flowery.
flavor is sweet, fruity, honey, mildly acidic, mildly spicy, with a piney hop background.
finish is slightly sweet, slightly bitter, with a touch of pine on the lips.
POS on 6 pack says it is "formidable enough to temper even the crankiest of spirits". Well it worked for me, I was in a bad mood and now I’m not. lol
12 oz. bottle- Pours deep red with a thin white head, aroma is some spice and not much else. The flavor is sweet spice and candy like, it has a wonderful cherry like flavor, tasty and drinkable. This is one of the better holiday beers I’ve had. oldgrumpy (106) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 1, 2011
One of my earliest craft beers and I still remember how good it tasted. I would love to find another

Not a bad winter beer. Deep amber with a nice thick head. Rich and malty with a good grassy hop balance. Has a nice spicy body. Lemke10 (981) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 24, 2013
Expect the unexpected with this ale. It pours a dark brown color with a long lasting head. There is a slight scent to it, but nothing that stands out. It was quite heavy for an ale while there was a slight nutty taste, very slightly bitter but finished quite smooth. A very nice find and something I would suggest to others.
