Draft at Murphy and sons. Tons of head on dark body. Carmel earthy aroma. Taste is somewhat bland. Not strong. Just not much going on I can distinguish. Not bad not good kevinator (2867) - The Colony, Texas, USA - MAR 15, 2014
Decent beer. Malty aroma with some roasted essence. Woody brown color with a normal head. English maltiness with a subdued hops presence. Some roasted and caramel notes. Decent weight with some smoothness. Easy to drink and filling. Good for the season. amceachern99 (70) - Albany, Oregon, USA - NOV 3, 2001
Thick tasting. Has a nasty aftertaste...................................... NWHopHead99 (58) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - FEB 21, 2002
If I could just smell this beer, it would be fine, but sadly, the taste is less rewarding. If I could prolong the brief initial instant of flavor of earthy hops, and mixes of deep malts, I would, but as amceachern said, the aftertaste is fowl. baobubba (455) - Starkville, Mississippi, USA - NOV 4, 2002
UPDATED: JAN 22, 2003 Dark brown-amber in color with little-no head. Relatively sweet (caramel) hoppy aroma with hints of yeast, and alcohol. Sweet start with a hoppy twang in the middle. A sweet/bitter finishes everything up.

Nothing earth shattering here. Seems rather plain in the bottle, but can be very good on tap at the brewery. aracauna (3709) - Georgia, USA - JAN 9, 2003
Medium-dark brown body, small cream head. Aroma is lemon and the smell of tomato plants during picking or tobacco. As for taste, there isn't much. A hint of sweet malt and maybe a little bit of spice, slightly sour at the end. DrunkAsASkunk (847) - Lynnwood, Washington, USA - FEB 9, 2003
A fairly basic Winter brew. This one poured a fiery red with lively carbonation and a very thin white head which somehow stuck around long enough for me to enjoy my brew. The aroma was very subdued with malt, caramel and nutmeg (?) becoming apparent. The taste begins with a very watery malt front and builds into a non-fruity spicey finish. Im picking up ginger and a nutmeg presence with a malty dryness at the end...very spicey and dry. The malt is very subdued behind the carbonation. Overall, i see nothing that makes this truly exceptional. A spicey bite, but little of anything else to draw attention to itself. I do thank dasilky1 for allowing me to take one of these to taste. jeffc666 (1984) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - DEC 29, 2003
UPDATED: DEC 5, 2004 2004 VintageDark brown amber frothy tan head. Pine aroma like an OR forest. Falsl falt in the falvor. Spices and hops combine ok. Medium dry body.2003 Vintage 8/4/7/3/14 - 3.6 - Clear dark ruby. Smallish fizzy light tan head. Lacing is quite nice. Very nice sweet ripe fruity aroma, there are some pleasantly subtle spice aromas also, vanilla and nutmeg. The flavor develops just as the aroma does. It is also equally as complex. There is more caramel flavor than the aroma leads on to. Body is medium and the hops come through in the finish. A very nice beer.
