This beer would get higher ratings if they just called it an IPA. At 7.5% the word "Imperial" seems out of place, especially when most of the brews in the regular IPA category are around 7%. Also it’s priced like a regular IPA too. Anyway, on to the tasting notes... Obviously the focus is hops, and here we find a clear example of that special Pacific NW strain of bitterness. It has a sharp, spicy nose, leading into flavors of grapefruit and lemon that dance on the tongue. I like the limited malt presence, which adds just enough sweetness while allowing the hops to prevail. This reminds me of the Full Sail Pale Ale, but stronger. Definitely worth a try, as long as you’re not expecting a true DIPA/IIPA hop monster. SudsMcDuff (8462) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - MAR 16, 2010
at 6.99, why would i pass this up? .. Pours out a dark copper .. medium strength foam .. resin, fresh pine needles .. . cloying sweetness to it.. a muddled brew but at $7 for an IIPA sixer, would do it again.. you wanna play good soccer, cocoa butter! 12oz bottle served in a shaker pint. Poured a slightly hazy gold with less than a finger of white head. Piney hop aroma with some sugary malt. Lighter sided of medium bodied. Fair amount of hop bitterness to start. Decent malt base. Slightly spicy/herbal quality to the hops. Lingering hop bitterness. Decent DIPA, but I wouldn’t seek it out again. talon1117 (1152) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAR 12, 2010
Nice pour with a translucent orange color and an off-white, creamy, pillowy, moderately full head which leaves drippy lace rings and a thin, pillowy layer remaining almost throughout. The nose is okay but a bit English for my taste; notes of sweet citrus, dirty flower notes, spicy hops, and some sugary malt undertones. The flavor is mostly the same with sugared pink grapefruit, sweet malt and bready undertones, a nice moderately full bitterness, and the same dirty flower notes. The palate is medium, lively, and lightly sticky. The beer finishes mostly bitter with some sweet pink grapefruit, herbal bitterness, and floral still lingering. About what I expected from Bridgeport; some nice notes but ultimately the more offputting notes keep the beer from being very good. With others in the style, fresh flowers seems to be a common note but with this one the floral notes seemed almost dirty. Not a lot of complexity in this either. Not awful but not even good for an IIPA. unclemike (3160) - Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA - MAR 9, 2010
Pours blonde, white head. Aroma, very hoppy, but remains sweet, yeasty (cheese). Taste is hoppy with a decent amount of fruits and pine, with a medium bitter hop in aftertaste.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear, orange-ruby colored body with a finger-width, creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Pretty color to this beer. Aroma isn’t bad, but its not vibrant enough for a DIPA. Sweeter malts with some caramel and crystal along with a floral citrus and lightly peppered pine. A bit of a musky smell to it with some apricot too. Flavor is better with a much more pronounced bitterness. Still has that musky taste to it. Sweeter caramels with flowery oranges and some grapefruit. A good amount of peppered pines with a light resin along with a touch of other fruits. Finishes with a fairly aggressive, herbal, earthy, piney bitterness that dries and leaves a lengthy aftertaste with a growing citrus sweetness. Medium body with a moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent DIPA. Fairly sweet malts and citrus with an all-around muskiness to the hops makes for an interesting combination. beernovice39 (3270) - Idaho, USA - MAR 7, 2010
Cloudy murk orange pour. Tiny white head. Scent of grass citrus and hops. Piney earthy taste. Not bad for the money but a tad off balance as its a bit to tangy for my taste. topherh (1929) - Kearney, Missouri, USA - MAR 5, 2010
Pours coppery orange with a white head. Aroma is grassy citrus hops and a little malt. Flavor is resiny pine, a bit of grassy floral hop, caramel, and a long bitter finish. mar (5434) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAR 3, 2010
