Pretty average. Price was right for a reason. Not enough hop bite for a double ale. twindadplus2 (728) - Wisconsin, USA - FEB 14, 2015
Bottle, cloudy red amber color with a thin off white head. Aroma is creamy caramel malt and a bit of dark fruit. Taste is toffee malt up front and dark sugar up front and a light herbal bitterness. Medium to full bodied with a creamy palate and a long citrusy finish. It’s a good ale. joelwhite (32) - - JAN 14, 2015
I'd be mad if I had to pay 6 bucks for a pint of this. It's a pretty mediocre beer. Not what I thought for an imperial but not bad. mjg74 (3140) - La Mesa, California, USA - JAN 13, 2015
Bottle from Fred Meyer. Dark amber in color. Sweet nose with a good deal of dark fruit. Light hoppiness as well. Dark fruit with some sweetness as well. Nice citric hoppiness to round it out. motelpogo (7704) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - DEC 24, 2014

Bottle. Dirty reddish amber pour, with a fizzy off white head. Caramel, bitterness, sugar, and light citrus. Not very good. GreatDane1632 (1169) - North Dakota, USA - DEC 21, 2014
Rated based on notes taken 25 Mar 2012 -- A truly wonderful beer. My two years later tastes have changed. Still a good beer. Theydon_Bois (20215) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - NOV 29, 2014
Keg at the brewpub, PDX, 09/11/14.
Clear rich amber with a moderate off white covering that soon dissipates to a swirl.
Nose is toffee, dark malts, sugars, spice, caramel.
Taste comprises much the same, pretty one trick pony.
Medium body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with lghtly warming alcohol.
Ok, but for style and ABV not a lot doing, lacks depth and complexity. UncleKorm (1330) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - NOV 9, 2014
On tap poured a cloudy orange-brown hue with large frothy beige head. Moderate sweet malty rye aroma. Initial flavor is moderate sweet w/ a bold bitter finish of ling duration. Tastes are rye, caramel, brown sugar, hay, and pine. Full bodied. It may be one of the longest lasting finishes of any beer I've had.

Great hoppy aroma, nice bitter finish and a little spice on both the nose and the palate. Gets better as it warms
