Bottle @ fonefan berliner weisse, cream ale multistate tasting. Nice head with good duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are burnt caramel, fruits, candy sugar, malt and hops. mcberko (17823) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 16, 2011
Sampled on tap at PIB, pours hazy orangey amber with a tiny head. Aroma of light toasted caramel, nuts, subtle dark fruits - subtle aroma. Flavour of nuts, toasted caramel, subtle fruits and a boozy finish. Not so complex for a barley wine. Sort of muted flavours. Decent. Oakes (17664) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 8, 2003

Dark amber-orange; aroma is typical of barley wines this age - toffee, chocolate, molasses, with slight band-aid phenols. Rich complex malt profile - earth and pine included. Solid and serviceable, as it's always been.

No. 011/2003 bottling. Aroma of malt, alcohol and prune/plum. Under halogen it’s deep amber to reddish gold at the bottom. Tastes of malt, phenols, dark pitted fruit (cherry plum?). No citrus. No pine. Medium mouthfeel. Sipping quality. Finish is tannic rather than bitter. Dark fruit persists. Ratman197 (14826) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - MAY 30, 2005
Clear garnet color with a minimal offwhite head.Aromas of plum, grape, and tobacco promise more than yhe flavor delivers. Somewhat complex flavors of grape tobacco and some pepper. Still the flavors are light for the style, as is the mouthfeel. Come on Bridgeport, you can do better than this! Tmoney99 (14460) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - OCT 1, 2009

Poured clear reddish copper color with an average off-white frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate tart fruit, malt and resin aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium tart citrus sweet flavor with a medium fruity sweet finish with a small alcohol bite of moderate duration.
Complex beer that I would share with a freind. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - DEC 14, 2002
1999 version. Deep amber, slightly cloudy, minimal head. Aroma is sweet, slightly vinous, rich. Taste is straight-up barleywine -- sweet (somewhat fruity), big hoppy beer, with loads of malts balancing things out. Good alcohol burn on the swallow.
