COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Smooth Ryed has an appetizing mid-range amber color with an aroma that is derived from a pound per barrel of whole Centennial hops in the hopjack, kettled by UK Kent Golding pellets. Smooth Ryed is brewed with a variety of malts, including a spicy rye and chocolate malt.

JPDIPSO (6223) - Wauwatosa, USA - MAY 1, 2017
Amber color with a thinner, light beige colored head. Dry rye aromas with a little floral hops in the background. Once the volatiles are driven away, I’m left with grain and cardboard scents. Full feel. Slight sweetness in the front. Spice and mild bitterness in the middle and into the finish. Hints of citrus and light fruit. Dry finish. 2/13

355ml bottle. This is a putrid beer, tastes like vinegar and bile, not sour just pukey and garbagey.

"Pretty disappointing rye ale. Not sure of age - got to the store 8 weeks ago. Definite metallic off putting edge to the aroma and flavor that kinda kills the rest. The centennial hops and rye are hidden way down there. Toasted malt and baseball bat is not so great."

An amber colored ale, with not a whole lot going on in the aroma, a little spice but that’s about it. Some hops come through on the palate, floral, and some of the spice from the rye give it a little backbone, but overall, I’m not sure this beer knows what it wants to be.

maekchu (3911) - Hirakata, JAPAN - MAR 11, 2014
Bottle from Five Points Bottle Shop (Atl Hwy). Rich sweetish caramel, tropical fruit, and some pepper in the nose. Copper color, fine head. Thin caramel initial / touch of sweet fruit: strawberry and cherry / a bit of pepper in the finish. Thin-medium body. Fine, mild flavors. The rye adds a little body, but less pepper than I expected.

pours a amber color with a medium sized head. you pick up the rye in the aroma and lots of earthy smells. there is some fruityness in it as well. the taste was sort of a let down i expected more. the rye taste is there but its unusual in a way.

IndianaRed (4615) - Boise, Idaho, USA - NOV 16, 2013
Bottle Clear light redish amber witha small light tan head that stuck around. Heavy lacing. Sharp bitter woody rye aroma and flavor. Dry finish. Some weird metallic notes as well. Didnt love it

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream head. Citrus and earth aroma with caramel. Grapefruit and light pine flavor with caramel. Medium bodied. Grapefruit and light pine linger with caramel and light earthiness.

Bottle:   Amber, thin to moderate frothy sandy head, spotty lacing.   Soft citrusy nose, even softer rye.   Has a slight powdery sugar background.   Rye is more noticeable on the tongue, but its also slightly medicinal.   Seems tangy, a little rough despite being fairly moderate in body and mouthfeel.   I get a slight popsicle stick like woodiness after the finish.   Rye lingers a bit too.   Tiz okay, but seems a bit rough and artificial at times.

1.5 finger off-white, full head sinks moderately quickly after pouring this deeply copper brew. The aroma is of fruit and hops and a hint of spiciness. Good taste with the fruit and hops getting top billing here, but not overpowering (in fact, maybe a little too muted?) Some peppery spice is blended well into the mix along with a sweet malt background, then finished dry. This beer is amply carbonated and finishes dry. I liked it. 8/9/13 ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
