Smooth Ryed has an appetizing mid-range amber color with an aroma that is derived from a pound per barrel of whole Centennial hops in the hopjack, kettled by UK Kent Golding pellets. Smooth Ryed is brewed with a variety of malts, including a spicy rye and chocolate malt.

UPDATED: JUL 30, 2013 Btl pours ,hazy light amber color, fluffy off white head that vanished quickly leaving some nice lacing. Smells malty and medicinal with some spiciness. Tastes of sweet malts with a hint of pepper followed by bitter hops. Medium body that is slick on the tongue with a little lingering sweetness, nice bitterness decent carbonation. Ok beer. Has a weird flavor that does not belong. Cant really taste rye.

12oz bottle served in a Sam Adams perfect pint A - 1.5 finger tan head. Full and fluffy. The head sinks pretty quick with a clear, dark brown body with reddish highlights. Looks good! S - Citrus hops, faint metal notes, spicy caramel background. T - Spicy hops off the top with notes of citrus and red fruit. Sweet malt background with a peppery hop bite. Theres a weird off flavor that I cant put my finger on. The rye is present with light spice and blend well with the fruit. Finishes with fruity rye bread, almost toasty with a dry finish. M - Medium body, ample carbonation, crisp peppery finish. Nice use of rye, not overpowering and could work well as a session beer, if it werent for that off-putting flavor. The mild fruity yeast added a nice English accent. This didnt go down that "smooth". Serving type: bottle 04-07-2013

Appearance: 2"+ beige head that leaves moderate lacing after slowly receding. Color is mostly clear copper, but there is some sediment in suspension. Moderate carbonation evident. Aroma: fruit (plums?), rye, medium roasted malt, yeasty bread. Mouthfeel: light to medium with a somewhat dry finish. Flavor: Differs a bit from the aroma as the bitterness is more forward. There is some rye spice in the middle, but the hop bitterness dominates the finish with chocolate/cocoa flavor in the initial taste. The fruit that was some evident in the aroma is almost obscured in the taste. Overall: very good but not great.

Pours a clear burgundy with a lot of carbonation and a two finger head that dissipates slowly and leaves mild lacing. Aromas of grape cough drop, piney hops, and grains. Hops and malt are balanced, and the rye is only slightly noticeable. Lighter bodied beer, and would be easy to drink if it werent for that long grape cough drop finish. The finish ruined the beer.

Medium amber with a lasting off white head. Rye grain aroma that almost smells like a wet sock with a little hop. Somewhat thin watery taste with some hop bitterness. This is one of those beers that you drink once and just forget about.

Bottle. Pours a clear red copper with fine off-white head. Aroma is fruity, fruity, citrus and peach, mild rye stink, slight hop, laundry detergent. Flavor is also very fruity, juicy, fruit punch with the mildest rye bite, mildly bitter aftertaste. Moderate carbonation, medium-light body, juicy texture. This is a fruity beer with minimal rye, somewhat of a mess.

Pours a very clear amber/copper with a finger of off white head that lingers and leaves a lot of lacing. Nose is very malty with a some sweetness. Green apple and pear. There is a slight hop note, but its overpowered by a weird stale aroma. Mouth is not very pleasent to me Very grainy that is bitter and tart. Theres a hops presence, but once again overpowered by a strange bitterness. Some caramel and sweetness.
