Nose of spicy rye malt caramel and peppery earthy hops. Pours auburnish thin head. Flavors of rye malt grain peppery tangy notes caramel light sweet fruitiness and an earthy peppery hop presence. Balanced.
Amber color with a thinner, light beige colored head. Dry rye aromas with a little floral hops in the background. Once the volatiles are driven away, I’m left with grain and cardboard scents. Full feel. Slight sweetness in the front. Spice and mild bitterness in the middle and into the finish. Hints of citrus and light fruit. Dry finish. 2/13

"Pretty disappointing rye ale. Not sure of age - got to the store 8 weeks ago. Definite metallic off putting edge to the aroma and flavor that kinda kills the rest. The centennial hops and rye are hidden way down there. Toasted malt and baseball bat is not so great."

An amber colored ale, with not a whole lot going on in the aroma, a little spice but that’s about it. Bottle from Five Points Bottle Shop (Atl Hwy). Rich sweetish caramel, tropical fruit, and some pepper in the nose. Copper color, fine head. Thin caramel initial / touch of sweet fruit: strawberry and cherry / a bit of pepper in the finish. Thin-medium body. Fine, mild flavors. The rye adds a little body, but less pepper than I expected.

1.5 finger off-white, full head sinks moderately quickly after pouring this deeply copper brew. The aroma is of fruit and hops and a hint of spiciness. Good taste with the fruit and hops getting top billing here, but not overpowering (in fact, maybe a little too muted?) Some peppery spice is blended well into the mix along with a sweet malt background, then finished dry. This beer is amply carbonated and finishes dry. I liked it. 8/9/13
