This year’s Stumptown Tart gathers 15-pounds of Oregon marionberries, raspberries and strawberries from local growers at Willamette Valley Fruit Company for each barrel of this tasty warm weather favorite. To give a different twist to the base beer, Brewmaster Jeff Edgerton used a new malt from Great Western Malt called “Superior Pilsen”. The team is also using wheat malt for some mouthfeel, a slight permanent haze and a lighter color that should serve to accentuate any pinks and reds extracted from the berries. In addition, one-third of the base beer will be fermented with “Ardennes” Belgian yeast to give a light Belgian character and add to the complexity of the profile.

Very fruity. A desert beer for sure. Probably has less calories than a slice of fruity cheesecake. Though no cheesecake flavor is for sure has the fruity flavor down nicely. Tasted a little artificial but still very good. heavy cloying sweetness, cloudy, minimal head, amber, orange, red,

A predicable raspberry aroma that is sweet and pungent with a lingering berry syrup taste. Pours a light amber. Lots of that berry aroma; however, the flavor is overly sweet for a brew and with a syrupy finish. It’s good if you’re in the mood for a strong fruity beer. Otherwise, kind of marginal.

Bottle l home picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a murky orange appearance with a khaki head. Strawberry candy, artificial raspberry, a bit juicy, spritzy aroma. Moderate carbonation. Strawberry, pink lemonade, zesty, fruit juice flavor. If you’re looking for a fruit bomb, then this is for you.

It has a strawberry orange color, I smell berry, cherry, malt, and some wheat. I taste all of the same with some hops, I like the tart finish. Nice ale......

22oz bottle, thanks to Bunker for sharing. Hazy peach color, little off-white head. Alright, nose is huge berry. Smooth lighter carbonation, medium body, more dry texture. Big berry aroma, taste is more sweet and less tart than I was expecting. Alcohol is well - hidden, though. As far as higher - ABV fruit beers go I think this is pretty decent, if you don’t expect much tartness.

Bomber to snifter (thanks Bunker). Looks solid; a hazy orange with white lacing. Smells sweet and fruity. Tastes like it smells with a pleasant mouthfeel. A solid fruit beer.

Sampled on 10/1/2012. This fruit beer pours a slightly hazy strawberry color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity, strawberry and raspberry. Slightly tart. A medium to light bodied fruit beer. The malts are fruity and sweet, mostly strawberry, but the raspberries and marionberries are there as well. The hops are floral and spicy. Lively carbonation. Nice fruity flavors, they are a little more subdued than I would like, but the berry flavors are there without being overpowering. I kind of like the tartness. Light and refreshing. Interesting combination of fruit. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly tart.

Nice reddish in color, thin head nice fruit aroma light flavor. This was a OK brew. I was hoping for more fruit flavor.

robforbes (2267) - Bremerton, Washington, USA - SEP 22, 2012
pours a cloudy amber-orange with a very small white head that goes away quickly, and no lacing. smell is of berry, cheerios, malt, a little wheat, and some earth. taste is a little tart, berry, malt, some hops, and a little perfume.

bottle. hazed amber with a tall white head. strong dried fruit and wood nose with heavy acids and a distinct gauze bandage / skin sweat and paraffin wax note. medium body, medium carbonation levels, medium bitterness, mostly dry. surprisingly gross wet paper flavor front to back, with tart fruit skins and armpit sweat / mold. reminds me of chewing notebook paper; totally stale fruit character. pasty egg shell sulfur yeast; muddy and limp flavor. the appearance in the glass is the best thing it has going for it.
