Pours opaque black with nice tan head. Not much lace. Complex aromas milk, pitted fruits, toast, coffee, rum. woody nutty toffee hints. Med full sickly sweet body, roasty hoppy hit of complex malt sweetness. Finishes bitter acrid roasty and hoppy.
Bottled, thanks baggio! Near black, small beige head. Rich aroma of coffee, brandy and licorice. Mid sweet with medium-full body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Coffee folllowed by a pepperyu alcohol finish. hawthorne00 (3952) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - AUG 30, 2013
Bottle, 13C. 2013 version is 9.1%, not 7.5%. Black with an inch of light tan head that gradually fades to a fat coat and laces well. Aroma of mocha, blackberries, burnt toffee, some earthy and herbal notes. Silky texture, lowish carbonation. Rather sweet with toffee and mocha, berries, licorice, some ash, light grassy/ herbal notes in brooding bitterness. Aroma made me think there was going to some astringency there at the end, but no. Big, but alcohol is well-integrated: no heat at all. A little on the sweet side for me, but a fine stout. that’s harmonious and interesting. gnoff (10410) - Mölndal, SWEDEN - AUG 25, 2013

Black color, brown head. Sweet, liqourice, toffee taste. Toffee, sweet aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Sweet, malty scent.
Jet black with frothy mocha colored head.
Tobacco, dairy milk, licorice nose.
Taste follows nose but adds a dimension of slight oak.
Light, creamy, and smooth. A bit young as a decent amount of alcohol in this still.

Pours black with very little in the way of head.
Nose shows lovely roasted malt with cocoa, dark chocolate and nutty notes. Very nice.
Equally moreish flavours, loads more chocolate, roasted malt and caramel. Some alcohol shows but stays in the background. Quite sweet.
Could use more carbonation, there’s pretty much no fizz whatsoever. davidm (2080) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - AUG 19, 2011
On tap at Biero. Masterpiece, very well hopped. Aromas of liquorice, caramel, chocolate, and coffee. Taste starts sweet, with bitterness taking over for a very long finish. Palate is syrupy and full bodied. Black, with an off-white head.
