Bottle from Good Spirits Co. Wine & Beer, Glasgow. Beer served in 14°C, Tulip Glass. Pours dark golden, small thick head. Aroma is lemony, with lime, sour and mild pear notes. Taste is overloaded with lemon and tart, slightly sour, mineral. Light carbonation, medium body. Quite nice.

330ml bottle. White burgundy barrel aged at 6.8%. Pours hazy dark orange with a medium head. Aroma is sharp sour lemon, with tropical hop underneath. Taste has tropical hop throughout with a light sour finish. Woody aftertaste. Lambic-esque.

Half pint on keg from Inn Deep, Glasgow (£3.50):
Quite a nice collaborative effort here from the two English based breweries, the beer was definitely a hop-filled one with a bit more sweetness than I’d anticipated at times but the oak & vanilla flavours were nice to see in this type of beer. For the most part it was the tropical flavours & hop bitterness that dominated proceedings but I was also surprised to see some of tart & funky saison like flavours near the end which were unexpected but welcome additions to the beer. It was a fresh & lively offering that proved quite easy to drink despite its strength; good stuff & one I’d be open to having again.

Keg at Hopwater Cellar, Newcastle under Lyme. Pours golden haze with an off white froth. Very plain after gorgeous sour so it was pretty like drinking water. It should be able to fight through so it’s disappointing.

Not dead yet! Offered at 6.8%. Tap @Barley Mow, Bristol. Small white head, golden/amber colour, clear, fair lacing. Aroma: barrel, oak, raisin, bit of alcohol. Lightly sweet with bitter/alcohol aftertaste. Full body, soft carbonation, long finish. Needs more balance.

Very enjoyable IPA, can taste a nice oakiness to it, along with a good fruitiness.

Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Pale copper colour. Light haze. Thin, dense, sticky, white head. Has that barrel aged legginess. Nose has white wine, oak, and clean, fresh hop. Nothing else required. Smells incredibly clean, verging on menthol medicinal. Lovely. Taste has a soft, white grape tang. A little sour, and a little bitter. Crisp mouthfeel. Vinous, oaky finish. Knocked me out, this. Absolutely lovely.

330ml bottle from Beer Gonzo. Muddy reddish brown, reasonable head. Sour yeasty lemon aroma. Sour brett lemon flavour. Watery. Not for me.
