Bottle at home, BBF online 12SOC, 18/01/13.
Very dark mahogony brown with a thin tan head that clears to the edge and leaves a swirl of filmage.
Nose is roast malts, dark fruits, liqourice, berry fruit - not necessarily picking blackcurrants out here, sugars.
Taste comprises blackcurrant, roast malt, liqourice - doing what it says on the tin!
Medium bodied, carbonation was a little over sprtized initially but I supped this over time and it flattened out so upped from a 3 to 4, dry finish.
Decent enough stout. mR_fr0g (11891) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 11, 2013

Bottle as part of the 12 stouts of Christmas. Near black with a small but tight, off-white head. Aroma of bitter chocolate, liquorice and roasted malts. Flavour had more chocolate, some tart blackcurrants and a hint of spice, leading to a dry finish. Very good. oh6gdx (26482) - Vasa, FINLAND - DEC 31, 2012
Bottled (from Ales By Mail). More or less pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is mild liquorice, some berries, slight not too roasted coffeeish notes. Flavour is liquorice, mild blackcurrant (and slightly other berries as well) along with some toffee, mild roasted malts and some slight chocolaty notes. Quite solid, but a bit thin palate. stravale (3055) - Near Carrick-on-Shannon, IRELAND - DEC 16, 2012

12 stouts of Christmas 2012 tasting with Craig and Ben. Pours a very dark brown colour with a decent, light tan head. Aroma of blackcurrant, liquorice, chocolate, caramel and roasty malt. Similar flavours with mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Beersiveknown (5284) - NORTHERN IRELAND - DEC 11, 2012
Grey-brown with fluffy pale tan and subtle earthy spicy blackcurrants and dusty yeast. Medium carbonation, tart blackcurrant, a touch of spearmint perhaps. A spike of anise like licorice before the dry roast barley kicks in for the long finish. It’s subtle but flavourful. DruncanVeasey (8225) - NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - DEC 8, 2012
4th of 12 from the 12 stouts selection box. Good as pitch with the now-customary cratered beige collar and thickness of condition. Relatively muted aroma with hints of burnt toast and nuts. Good roasty, overly done toast base streaked attractively with mildly sour blackcurrant. Really digging that mellow, dark chocolate-robed edge. The liquorice has vanished. Crumb of dry roasted fennel seed. Above average but weakest of the box so far...
