COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by the amazing hoppy beers being brewed by American craft brewers this beer is heavily hopped, packing it with tropical fruit flavours and aromas. Pineapple, passion fruit & grapefruit are the dominant features of this beautiful amber ale, that has a big strong malt backbone to balance out all the hops.

500ml bottle. Aroma is grapefruit. Taste is grapefruit and maybe a bit of caramel malt. Overall: overpowering taste from the hops. A good beer for those seeking strong flavour.

Bottle at home. Orange and slightly cloudy with a thin white head. Strong aroma of marmalade and nettle hop. Initial sweetness leads to a bitterness which is somewhat harsh. More tangerine/orange fruit, stinky hop and sweet, syrupy malt. Bitter and astringent finish. Lots of flavour but a little unbalanced for me.

Draft Half Pint at Cask Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico, London in Mar 2011 - Amber-Gold in colour. Very Hoppy; piney resinous oily and grassy hops. Very Fruity; bitter grapefruit citrus and tropical fruit flavours; tangy and juicy. Malty backbone; toasty biscuity malts, caramel. Bitter citrus fruity and hoppy throughout. Nice IPA! (2011-03-07)

500ml bottle from Waitrose. Legacy rating. Pours rich orange-amber with deep and lingering head. Aroma explodes with tropical fruits - passion fruit and pineapple in particular, with bags of resin underpinning it. Beautifully balanced but strongly defined in character, sweet biscuit to even out the great bitter hoppiness. Love it!

Keg at The Hop Inn, Newcastle-Under-Lyme. A hazy amber colour with a medium white head. Aroma of toasted malts, caramel, strawberry, some orange, grapefruit, slight pine and subtle pineapple. Taste of orange, grapefruit, some pine, a hint of passion fruit, pineapple, slight toasted malts, burnt caramel and subtle red berries. Medium bodied and an oily texture. A long, dryish, piney and citrus hop bitterness in the finish. A very good take on an American IPA. A good amount of citrus and pine hop bitterness and sweet, caramel and toasted malts.

Butchers Hook, Southampton. The sweet malt body here does support the juicy citric hops so this feels quite balanced and drinkable. I hadnt realised at the time that the abv was as high as 6.5% as it doesnt feel that strong. For me the malt is not doing much more than balancing and supporting the hops. The malt is too pale, too biscuit like, and too bland, for my taste. The focus here is on the juicy hops, which thankfully held off, just, from burning my lips. I was OK with this, but its not really my thing.

Bottle. Gold, thin but sustained white head and good condition. Big hoppy nose with hints of grass, grapefruit, raspberry jam and distant toffee. Full bodied and fruity in the mouth, with raspberry and sweet grain fighting a solid citrusy hop bitterness for balance but in the finish the bitterness becomes dominant without becoming dominating.

50cl bottle picked up at Waitrose, Stratford and consumed on 23-Jun-2016. Hazy amber colour with a medium sized white head. Aroma of tropical fruit and pine. Medium body and carbonation. Really fruit number - pineapple, mango and grapefruit. Medium hopped and bittersweet. Excellent, loved it.
