Bottle @ home. The pours deep brown with a medium tan head that takes its sweet time to develop. The nose is definite Belgian yeast, ribbon candy sweetness. Some notes of earthy toffee and medium roast coffee. Hints of vinous chocolate-dipped red berry. The taste is definitely interesting - the belgian yeast gives a bubble gum sweetness that blends well with rich berry flavors. Chocolate cake, rich roasted malts. Mildly nutty, creamy finish. Luxurious mouthfeel. Fruity, pleasant. Nice, soft body. Really well executed and flavorful stuff. Overall, wow, this was much better than I thought it would be. By far the best Bristol beer Ive had.

Draft Half Pint at Cask Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico, London in Mar 2011 - Black in colour. Very Malty; roasty malts, espresso coffee, dark chocolate, caramel. Fruity; dark fruits. Hoppy. Roast malty, slightly sweet, throughout. Smooth; very drinkable. Surprisingly easy drinking; although 7.7% it doesnt attempt to be an Imperial Stout. Enjoyed this a lot. Nice Stout! (2011-03-07)

500 ml bottle conditioned, from Ales by Mail. ABV is 7.5%. Black colour, small tan head. Strong roasty aroma, roast malts, coffee, dark chocolate. The same elements in the flavour too, also liquorice and hints of dark dried fruits, a moderate sweetness, decent hops. Very good beer.

Bouteille 50cl, de et partage avec Pierre. BB 15.10.2016. Batch# 1807.

Near black with a lasting off-white head. Aroma of chocolate, licorice and coffee, with nice fruity notes. Sweetish fruity and roasted flavour with a lightly burned aftertaste.

Bottle from Favourite Beers, Cheltenham. Deep mahogany, almost black with a frothy beige head. Lovely chocolate pudding aroma. The taste is also chocolate pudding with a hint of liquorice and pppery spice. Creamy mouthfeel. Lovely stout.

Snagged a bottle from Gravity Station in Cardiff. Choclatey aroma, a bit roasted. A bit of molasses coffee taste. Thinner than expected, but thick enough to be a stout. Overall good as a go-to stout while out.

Bottle. Black body with a thin beige head. Faint lacing. Aroma of berries, roasted malt and soy sauce. Flavour of dark chocolate, cloves, treacle and Marmite. Thin to medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. Not quite as complex and drinkable as Id hoped it would be.

1/3 pint pour from cask into tulip at Hanging Bat in Edinburgh. Black, opaque, attractive foamy tan head with nice lacing and good retention. Coffee on the nose with a bit of roastiness. Body is much lighter than Id expect for the style. Surprisingly thin. Taste is great. Very roasty, coffee, dark bread, a hint of raisin and dark fruit. A very enjoyable stout-- well defined flavors, well balanced, but nothing too extreme. Nice and drinkable overall.

Bottle from The Bottle Lab, Leek. 7.5%ABV. Pours a deep brown to black colour with a thick, foamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, raisin, some molasses, a little caramel, slight coffee and subtle cherry. Taste of roasted malts, coffee, some chocolate, a little whisky, slight molasses, liquorice, subtle wood and dark fruits. Full bodied and soft carbonation. A warming, lingering, earthy, chocolatey bitterness in the finish. For a 7.5 and by the aroma, I was expecting this to be abit more mellowed than other imperial stouts but its a big, boozy, earthy beer. Surprising and decent.
