COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Meet our Belgian Dubbel: A frothy marriage of deep, caramelized richness, fruity undertones, and the lush complexity that bottle conditioning brings. Gezondheid! The magic of brewing lies in the art and alchemy of conjuring beautiful flavors from humble ingredients. This is especially true with Belgian beers. To our way of thinking, creating a proper Belgian requires a dedication to using worthy ingredients, traditional methods, and a bit of of that monk-ish breeding prowess that only an artisan can bring to the kettle. The result, we think you’ll agree, is sublime.

RSRIZZO (1986) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - AUG 27, 2011
750ml bottle, courtesy of and shared with BeerandBlues2. Color is a hazy amber with very good carbonation and a thick rocky head. Aroma is a sweet caramel scent. It has a bold medium body that gives a crisp mouth feel. Flavor of malt, caramel and dried fruits, then a mild bitterness. Overall its a very good brew.

Doofgoblin (513) - Chevy Chase, Washington DC, USA - MAR 9, 2013
Pours a murky amber brown with not much foam or head. Aroma is banana, yeast, slightly floral with a little spice note. Taste is sweet, malty with strong caramel notes and slightly spicy. Not as much carbonation as you might expect but enough to give a little bitterness and carry those aromas. Finishes smooth but not super dry. nice.

Flavor is malt (caramel, toast), plums and dates, faint hops, light bitterness, with spicy and peppery alcohol and a lightly sweet finish. Full body, medium warmth and carbonation.

mensch (289) - Loveland, Colorado, USA - MAR 6, 2013
A little cloudy, carmel colored, nice lace. Enticing aromas of raison, plum and candy. Fizzy, medium bodied with sweet and fruity flavor. A kind of mineral feel and sourness in the finish. Quite enjoyable. A novel interpretation of the style.

bhensonb (15195) - Woodland, California, USA - JUL 6, 2013
750 c&c from LetsPour.com. Pours very hazy orange amber with a off-white head. Aroma is caramel with some rather pungent dark fruit. Full bodied or nearly so. Flavor is smooth dark caramel with moderately dark fruit - it is much closer to dry than sweet. For some reason it seems a little boozy. Think I’m picking up a very little metallic aspect. Overall a nice drink.

onceblind (9675) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 28, 2011
Very light amber, with a big fluffy head. Smelled like fresh morning dew, with light cocoa notes. Taste profile hits fresh, with light brown malt, caramel, and tart fruity yeast tones. Light and refreshing, but flavorful; like an assertive dunkel. Pretty eccentric.

sonnycheeba (5988) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - FEB 16, 2012
Bottle. Pours clear amber with thick, frothy off-white head; good retention and lacing. Aroma is Belgian yeast, caramel malt, pears, grassy hops, and a slighty soapy note. Flavor is heavy malt, light hops, and average esters; dry, malty finish. Medium body, low carbonation, and high warmth.

750 ml. corked and caged bottle. Pours a medium, well retained ivory head, with Belgian curtain lacing, over a clear copper (SRM 16) body......nose is moderate malts, with light cocoa, hints of vanilla, cinnamon, making for a cola type aroma, also clove tones, minimal hops.....taste has hints of sweetness, mild malts, with light cocoa, hints of dried fruits including raisin, plum, moderate spices with clove, cinnamon tones, finishing dry with mild hop bitterness......mouth feel, medium body, mild alcohol warmth, high carbonation. The malt depth and complexity in both aroma and flavor are light for the style in this bottle. Perhaps more malts or a change of yeast would correct. It misses the style, but is a pleasant easy drinking beer. Ratings above to enjoyment, below to style. BJCP 7/3/11/4/6
Earlier Rating: 8/11/2011 Total Score: 3.3
750 ml. bottle. Pours a fluffy ivory head, long duration, attractive lacing, over a very slightly hazy, amber (SRM 8) body.....nose is light caramel/toffee, bits of fig, raisin, plum, brown sugar.....taste is light dried fruits, raisin, fig, toffee/caramel, finishing dry, slightly bitter, but with lingering malt tones....mouth feel medium (a bit light), carbonation low. This is a fairly typical Dubbel. It is less complex than many, but has all the right qualia, BJCP 7/3/13/4/7
