Thanks to BeerandBlues2. Hazy orange color with a solid white head. The aroma was very sweet, and you definitely could tell the alcohol was there. The taste was heavy--plenty of malts, and some definite syrupy fruit tastes (like the syrup from a can of peaches or something). This one was too syrupy and heavy handed for my liking. bager (2120) - Copenhagen N, DENMARK - NOV 5, 2006
Bottled 2005. Hazy amber coloured with a small head. Sharp and alcoholic with notes of cardboard, malts and dark fruits. Sweet and slightly perfumed. madmitch76 (26850) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JAN 17, 2010
11th October 2008. GABF. Sourish malt. The hops are there but don’t dominate. Aromatic tasty barleywine but not outstanding. onceblind (11130) - Denver, Colorado, USA - FEB 21, 2012
Sampled from a cask at the 2012 Firkin Rendezvous @ Bristol. Dark burnt copper with very little head. Has a big rich aroma of figs, raisin, brown sugar, and plum. Very rich aroma. Flavor isn’t as smooth--kinda harsh with a little soapy tone, but has a rich dark taste of raisins, dark sweet malts, and figs with a slight cherry tone, but the off-flavor of soap is just too much for me to finish.

12 ounce bottle dated 2005 from BeerandBlues2. Poured into a snifter. Poured a very hazy, murkey even, orange/amber with a average off white head. A bit of lace. Quite sweet malty aroma. Candy-ish. The alcohol make it medicinal. Citric and piney hops are apparent. The flavor is a mash or malt, hops and alcohol, none of which are taking control. The all seem just to get in the way. I guess I can pick out a peach/apricot/necterine type fruitiness, but the finish is way boozey. The palate, while not exactly watery, surely leave something to be desired. Just an okay beer.

hazy amber, headless, sweet carmel malt aroma with aged hops, rich malt flavor, nice bitterness
Aroma: 6/10; Appearance: 4/10; Flavor: 6/10; Palate: 5/10; Overall: 11/20
Bottle from a 1/08 trade with BeerandBlues2. Pour was brown with a burgundy color, no head, flat looking. The aroma was maple, brown sugar, molasses, raisins, caramel. The flavor followed, flat as all get-out (notch on bottle said 2010, though, and this was well-cellared, even refrigerated for a good bit), caramel, molasses, brown sugar, dark fruits, metallic, astringent almost with some acidity, earthiness, but very well-concealed alcohol level of 11%. Mouthfeel was flat. Thanks, Brad! rxeight (3344) - Illinois, USA - JUL 10, 2013
Im not sure what this is supposed to taste like but its not good. Smells and tastes a little like a run of the mill barleywine, just worse. Seriously undrinkable.
