Pours a dark amber color with a khaki head. A fairly strong rye aroma with some toffee malt notes. There’s a good citrus peel and pine hop aroma, some floral hop notes, too. Tastes of toasted malt, rye, toffee, and sweet malt. There is a bit of pine bitterness. Some citrus peel, and a decent floral hop note as well. Not bad, but not all that good, either. Bomber poured a hazy ambe with a small lingering creamy amber head. Aromas of rye, mustiness, earthiness, grapefruit and a hint of pine. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Bottle. Pours clear dark amber with a medium, fizzy and bubbly light tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is spicy and earthy rye malt, toast and nutty notes, dates and plums with pine and herbal hops. Flavor is malt forward with medium hops and bitterness, light fruity esters and a dry finish. Bottle @ home. Pours a hazy, reddish brown appearance with a bubbly, light brown head. Very piney and especially floral hoppy, spicy, mild citrusy, herbal, toasty, rye malty aroma. Toasty, slightly caramelized, mild rye malty, herbal/soapy/floral hoppy flavor with mild citrus and pine notes. Somewhat spicy, floral finish. A touch chewy. Tap at Brewery. Clear nutty red, small but laceful head. Smells remarkably just like rye bread, slightly toasted. Taste was toasty and bready with loads of rye tones, very not-subtle but that’s ok. Quiet bitterness until the finish when it becomes a little bigger, but the hoppiness isn’t very pronounced. It seems that all the bitterness comes from the rye, and there is much of it. It’s like the liquid version of toasted rye bread.

Pour out of 22 oz bottle, dark reddish pour with nice fluffy off white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, earth, some nuts, nice spice, lemon, grainy notes with a hint of floral and grassy notes coming in as well. Taste is a mix of caramel and toffee, some nice spicy and slightly lemon rye, mainly spice, yeast, some floral notes, finishing fairly bitter, slightly sweet and dries out well. bottle. cola brown pour with a small and quickly subsiding tan head. faint nose of american hop grass / citrus swimming in an ocean of crystal and roast malt caramel / chocolate / toffee. small bit of honey and gum noticed as well. medium body is chewy and goopy while the carbonation is light and the acid mild; all-together it’s flabby and syrupy and falls apart as it moves across the middle. small touch of rye seed / bread character is overpowered by the gritty, earthy hop flavor and moderate bitterness. too many ingredients and none with any direction. Sampled at GABF 2105. In the sample glass this was ambe with a beige head. Nose of rye. Medium body. Flavor is floral hop;s and rye on some malts. Pine bitter finish. I like rye beers but this one did not quite work for me as well as I wished.
