Translation: The BRITT blonde beer (Melen in Breton) is non pasteurised. It’s brewed with barley malt and aroma hops. The buckwheat gives it a characteristic smoothness. Formerly 5%

Note: Do not confuse with the Britt Blonde Pils/Pur Malt at 4.5%.

Hmm, intriguing beer. Cloudy blonde color. Lemon aroma. Flavors of lemon and bitter herbs which I was never able to identify.

Slightly astringent and chalky yeast bows to tempestuous dry hay...Sweet malt vows to elevate the powdery herbs to the creamy and ample mouthfeel...A refreshing and eclectic blonde, probably brewed with a few different grains than barley...

Hazy golden color, medium frothy white head. Aroma is slight cheesy, bit spicy, some grassy hop. Dry spicy taste, crisp, bit bitter. Dry palate. Nice biere de garde.

330ml bottle (Tuulensuu, Tampere, French days 2008) shared by Tbone_ - thanks! Rich orange, cloudy, small light head. Dry dusty hoppy aroma, but not overpowering at all. Slightly papery yeasty taste. Well balanced, but with nothing really to grab onto.

Bottle. A orange beer with a thin white head. Good citrus aroma, the flavour is spicy and more than a hint of citrus fruit. A pleasent refreshing and light beer.

2nd Nov 2010: Brown 33cl bottle, poured into a ’Hoegaarden Grand Cru’ stemmed tulip. This beer was formally 5%ABV, mine was 6%ABV. A slight haze in the body gives it a dark golden hue, on top a white bubbley head. Citrus fruits dominate the nose, really sour aroma, more than a hoppy citrus smell, this is lemon, lime and grapefruit all blended together. The taste is also citrusy, leaning towards a vinegarous feel. It was at this point I noticed it’s best before date was 27 Aug 2010, which means it was reviewed over two months after that. Hope the beer wasn’t on the turn as I wrote the review. Also ’miffed’ I paid full price for it (yesterday). Different and an OK beer, France has some good stuff, I’ll carry on trying to find the best ones and review them on here!

33cl bottle from Bretagne, France. Poors a pale orange troubled with big white head. Aroma of hops, yeast, spices. Taste is light, slight bitter, with raisin, floral and spicy finish. Better than some other blondes, feeling a bit like German beers. Could have been more bodied though.

0,33l Flasche. Hellgelbe trübe Farbe, kaum Schaum. Hefe und etwas Frucht. Geschmack überraschen trocken. Man schmeckt den Buchweizen. Leicht süsses Finish.
