Drank on tap (12 oz) at Le Baril Roulant in Val-David (Quebec) on June 14, 2013. Ruby brown, small head. Raw malted barley aroma, slightly spicy fruit. Fruity taste of barley, spicy notes of herbs, raw and bitter grains. It is fairly drinkable!

on tap at la boîte à malt, lévis. clear redddish pour, faintly dark, with a small very light beige cap offering minimal retention and lacing. charred and quite fruity caramel with low sweetness input if not a sweetish nutty feeling; decent phenolic level, some woodsy spices, discernible spicy nobleness as well, minerals. moderate carbonation, light body, relatively dry (for style) and bland lightly grassy finish. a tad linear but more than o-k.

(27 mai 2013)

Tap: Poured a clear brown color bock with a medium foamy head. Aroma consists of dry caramel malt with light grainy notes. Taste is also dominated by grainy notes with dry caramel malt and some light nutty notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Standard and quaffable if maybe a tad too dry for the style.

On tap at the brewery. Clear brown red pour with small off white head. Aroma is nutty, roasty, brown ale like, light leather. Taste is roasty, light palate, a bit straightforward but good.

(Rating #3298)

My Bottom Line:
Herbal, spicy hops grow within slender Munich malts in this very drinkable Dunkler Bock.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam laces around the clear amber-hued russet.
-The flavor profile is balanced throughout.
-Although well crafted and approachable, the mouthfeel could be a tad softer and round (for my tastes in the style, anyway).
-The flavor profile is perhaps understated for North American palates. This is the kind of beer that requires a pint. My kind of afternoon brew, basically.

On tap at the brewpub.

Lubiere (14133) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 23, 2010
A reddish cognac coloured bock with a thin moka head. A rather chalky caramel malt aroma with sweet fruity esters, light oxidation. In mouth, a nutty malt with torrefied coffee notes, not bad. On tap at St-Bock, as Broadway Bock, June 20 2010.
