[5465-20130601] Cask. Smoked wood charcoal aroma. Cola brown body has no lasting head. Roasted tobacco wood flavour has a charcoal finish. Medium-full body. Surprisingly simple for a Sherlock. (7/3/6/3/12) 3.1

2013-06-01. Black body, headless. Aroma of dry roast over very sweet dark malt. Flavour is quite sweet up front and quickly turns dry and bitter, roasty finish lingers. Average plus bodied palate, very low carbonation. A poor cask presentation of a just okay beer. On cask at Benelux, Montreal czar (9338) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 5, 2013
on tap at bateau de nuit, qc. clear dark brown with a decent light beige head, some retention and lacing - mostly all of its qualities provided by creamer. freshless roastiness, plain chocolate and light coffee notes - faint malts, roasted acidity, minerals, something minty and vegetal, some dirt. average to soft carbonation, light body - weak, grassy-coffee-ish finish. unpleasant.

On tap as guest beer at Le Corsaire in Lévis. Deep black with a thick and very resilient beige-brown head. Flavor is roasted malt and dark chocolate. Very strong coffeeish-chocolateish bitterness in the finish. A soft mouthfeel. Potent, yet easy-to-drink "light" stout. lefossoyeur (615) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 15, 2012
Almost black with virtually no head. Intense red wine aromas are in dominance. Medium body, silky, a bit of bitter chocolate but the flavors are again dominated by the barrel ageing. Medium, slightly acidic finish. Not bad, but the red wine presence is a bit too much for me in this impy stout.

Draft at Churchkey. Black, very dark brown large bubble head. Aroma of alcohol, bourbon, roasted coffee. Taste is strong vanilla, cream, oak, weak Starbucks. A bit strong on the bourbon flavor, I think. Dickinsonbeer (5074) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JUN 8, 2010
Tap at Mondial 2010. Pours a nice deep dark brown some fizzy head. Aroma is smoked meat sharp roasted malts, toast, green grassy hops and melted burnt plastic off phenolics. Flavor is grassy, mint, toffee, burnt brown malts, some nutty chocolate and roasted malts, but mostly mint chocolate, spearmint and wintergreen tic tacs- bordering on sharp nasty urinal cake chemical spice and mint, earthy dirt and phenolic bite in the finish.
