Cask at Brodies festival, King William IV, Leyton on 8 April 2012. Some confusion about what this was when we were drinking it. Black and rich. Lots of coffee and chocolate. Licorice is noticeable. Cranberry surprisingly less so. As well as the usual imperial stout character it was also strongly resinous and hoppy. Interesting and very enjoyable.
Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. Inky black with a massive head of dark tan rocky foam. It has a very rich, sweet liquorice and chocolate flavour followed by coffee, red fruit and more liquorice on the finish. Excellent! Lonick (2537) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - NOV 11, 2016
Bottle @home, The I can’t believe they voted for Trump tasting (Nov 8th). Pours black tan head. Nose is malty, chocolate, slight coffee, slight fruit. Taste is more of the same with a sweetish fruity finish but also slightly tart. nihtila (4006) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 23, 2016
Keg at The Hanging Bat. Pours almost black with dark brown head. Nose is sweet liquorice, berries and fruits, gentle roast. Taste is sweet berries with roasted malts, liquorice, even some other candies, finishes with dryer roast. At first sips I found this a bit too odd but it is nice. Ilike the strong liquorice which is very sweet though. McNeillR (2333) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 14, 2016
Pitch black, lovely sandy wet head and lacing swirl. Nose is finally bright, squeeze of roast and a glisten of berry sweetness. Initial taste is a full on berry and roast burst, the latter is fairly light and the chewy liquorice builds in quickly. Carbonation is soft enough and the mouthfeel is spongey sweet with a real crust from somethingorother. Finishes a super smooth, super sweet, soft creamy tar and lingers out an almost raspberry furriness. Never had it this fresh or on Keg. Yowzwrrrr.Thompson (713) - - SEP 3, 2015

Clear dark brown beer, creamy beige head, stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very sweet, caramel, bourbon, vanilla, whisky, alcohol. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very roasted, caramel, sweet, bit sugary, alcohol, dried fruits, little bitter. Aftertaste: alcohol, roasted, lots of coffee, bit sour, cocoa powder. Very nice, but a bit too roasted for my flavour.
