Aroma: citrus fruits, maybe grapefruit, some toasted malts and chocolate. Appearance: black, small head. Taste: medium sweet. Palate: citrus fruits again, some caramel malt, some grass. Overall: amazing Black IPA, excellent aroma and palate. Pint at King William IV, Leyton.

Hits the black IPA ying and yang perfectly. Fresh pine and citrus notes from hops offset by smokey chocolate and liquorice from the malt.

Tap at Irreale. Black, brown lace. Grassy, citric, light earthy hop nose. Dark roast and deep herbal notes. Muddled tropical aftertaste, kelp on the palate. Clay and perfumed pine aftertaste. A bit too sticky.

Keg @ the rake - pours a murky reddish brown body, soft, delicate nose with citrus, sweet fruit. Excellent mouthfeel and taste, piny, dry bitter, still lots of tropical fruit. Very balanced.

Bottle at home from cotteridge wines. Arom is realy big bold sweet, sharp lemon rind and piney hops. There is also some fruit salad, mineral and some slight roast. Clearish dark caramel red pour with a steadfast dense light cream head. Flavour is sweet toffee, berry hop, pine. The finish is ashy roast and big piney clean aggressive bitterness. Some slight soapyness. Fine tingling carbonation dryish fiinish. The bitterness is a bit too much for me.
