Cask conditioned at The King William IV, Leyton, London. Black with tan head. What a way to finish off a long, long day. Full of fruity alcohol, bitter, hoppy with a citrus edge and roasty background. Quite a big and chunky beer, great.

Draft. Pours red/brown with minimal tan head. Aroma Like sticking your nose in a bag of hops!, citrus, roast malt and slight fruity. Taste is bread, sweeetness, roasted malts and hops. Delicious solid bitter finish,

Pours murky brown with small tan head. Aroma has notes of citrus, grass, caramel and dried hops. Taste is mild at first but builds up to a mouthdrying hoppy finish. Notes of roasted malt, grapefruit and pine.

Tap take over at Mikkeller Bar. Dark brown with a small white head. Fruity aroma with bright and clean citrus along with a touch of licorice. Citrus and licorice also dominate the flavour, with a faint hard roasted finish

Served Mikkeller Bar Copenhagen, draft. Apperance dark brown and unclear with no head. Served very cold but after warmup aroma of characteristic american hops, floral and peachy. Taste with notes of roasted malts, coffee and liquorice, nice strong bitter aftertaste, high ibu, ballanced sweetness, I recommend this beer served 8-12 degreesC. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

[500ml bottle, Trembling Madness bottle shop, York] Black pour with enormous puffy white head, which sits like an ice-cream float before receding gradually. Aroma of lemon citrus, passion fruit and grape, resin and yeast. Extremely bitter, resinous flavour, lemon and grapefruit. Almost biting hop level on the far aftertaste, finishes very dry and bitter. Not much chocolate in evidence - the BJCP would love this, there’s really no indication of it’s colour on the taste. Very nice indeed [31102012]

Bottle at home on a miserable Sunday, 23rd September 2012, pours a huge soft head that keeps on growing, nice hoppy aroma, taste is delicious and rich, like a kernel black ipa, but richer and softer in mouth, nice stuff

Bottle from King William IV. Pours murky brown, almost no head. Smells sweet glue- is this bottle off? Do I even dare to taste it?Sour fruit taste, hints of glue, yoghurt, cherries, definitely gone sour. Is it fair to rate a beer based on a bottle gone off? Undrinkable.

Bottle. It pours a dark reddish brown body and a dense, finger-thick light beige colored head. The aroma is mostly on the fruity, hoppy side, as it should be, with a faint roasted touch in the back. Resins, green pine cones, citrus peel and some grapefruit. The flavor has a nice bitterness, with some roasted hints in the far back, and piney, grapefruity flavors up front. It’s full-bodied, with a nice carbonation, finishing bitter and hoppy. Certainly one of the best black IPA’s I’ve had, really tasteful and dangerously easy drinkable. 111229
