2008-09-06. Dark amber body with a small off white head. (3+) Mild aroma, light hops and a touch of alcohol. Flavour is hoppy with a malt base. Average palate. Pretty decent but unexceptional. Kind of surprised to see the high ratings for this one, I didn’t think much of it at the time. Perhaps it would have stuck out more on its own. On tap at the brewpub. mabel (9246) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 18, 2008

Draft at the brewpub’s sister Bear’s Tooth Grill, Anchorage, 7/8/05: Dark muddy orange-red with virtually no head. Decent hop aroma; milky hop flavors and very orangey. Great. Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - MAR 10, 2017
Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a cloudy burnt orange to brown color with a finger’s worth of off-white head. Decent messy lace.
The aroma had a big blend of caramel to chocolate big and bold up front. Some brown sugar, dates and nuts follow in underneath.
The flavor takes the previously mentioned aromas to boot in some bitter citrusy hops. Dry crisp malty to bitter aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Decent carbonation. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, good brown ale that is just good for what it is, but doesn’t seem to lean towards an English or an American. It just is. BrewDad (5328) - Olympia, Washington, USA - APR 2, 2012
Golden in color, clear with a thin head. Nice roast malt and light hops flavor. Easy drinking Ale. They say spruce in the flavor but this was very subtle. MrTipple (5292) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 26, 2015
