COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Darth is a big, rich stout. It’s full, roasty body gives way to a smooth chocolaty finish with lingering alcohol and spicy notes contributed by its Belgian strain of yeast.

Pours a deep brown color with off white head. Sweet Belgian yeast aroma. Toasty with a Belgian yeast dried fruit character. Notes: on tap at the Moose’s Tooth, Anchorage (May ’17)

On draught at the restaurant. The only thing memorable was the spiciness of the different yeast strain used. It gave it a an unusual but good twist to this imperial stout. Worth the try if you’re at the restaurant and enjoy big stouts.

Bottle, black beer, huge almond colored head, decent lace. Aroma malt, coffee, raisin, banana. Taste brown sugar, coffee, chocolate, raisin, hint of banana. Palate rich and thick, carbonation subdued. This is a bit sweet initially, but finishes almost dry. This is quite good!

Draught at GABBF. Pours black with a medium, frothy tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is chocolate malt, alcohol, dates and figs, light paper notes. Flavor is sweet caramel and cookie malt, spicy alcohol, dates and figs, light earthy hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

SHIG (4956) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - APR 18, 2012
Draft: Poured a light black with clear red edges, head was off white. Aroma is toasty malts and fruit. Taste is rich with fruit leaving way to roasted malt. More Belgian than stout in my mind. Nice alcohol warming finish.

Silphium (3199) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - AUG 7, 2011
On tap at Moose’s Tooth, Anchorage. 2010 vintage. Translucent garnet body, medium dense creamy tan head. Toasty nose with alcohol; vinous with dark fruits and spice. Big, vinous body with hard candies, grape, plum, roasted malts, chocolate, and spice. Biting palate with sharp carbonation, prickly alcohol, and a big flavor profile. Complex and quite good.
