COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

12oz bottle. Pour is jet black with very thin ring of light tan head. Almost none at all to be exact. Initially on the nose you get bakers chocolate, bitter rather than sweet. Typical roasted malt is accompanied by hints of vanilla and dried fruit. Very little carbonations leads to a silky, creamy mouth feel. 10% abv well integrated into the flavor profile. My bottle is at least 3 seasons old. Very nice sipper on this chilly night.

12 oz. bottle. Pours almost black with a tan head. Aroma of sweet malt, toffee, dark chocolate, licorice notes. Taste follows nose with some ashy undertones, dark fruits, hints of vanilla. Finish is roasty and sweet.

Pours black and opaque with a tan head and an aroma of rich chocolate and malt. There is a 4-finger dark tan head with a liberal pour. It tastes of deep, rich, resinous and earthy baker's cocoa and malt. It's dry and bitter with a hint of anise in the finish. It has a strong, full, bold body with heavy roast. It had lively carbonation at first that faded to minimal. This is a big beer yet the alcohol is hidden within the roast and bitter cocoa. Look Out!

Pours rich black with light, thick head. Aroma is dark chocolate, caramel and lactose. Taste is rich dark chocolate warming to a lighter, sweet milk chocolate flavor. Finish is smooth chocolate. If you love chocolate, you must try this beer.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2017 ABV - 10 .Appearance: Jet black motor oil, nice frothy dark tan head. Head doesn't retain for long. A great looking stout in the glass. .Aroma: Roasted malt, licorice, dark fruits, slight booze. .Taste: Upfront roasted malt sweetness, very powerful Taste that intensifies through the finish. Slight bitterness on the end. Notes of dark fruit, licorice, cocoa, coffee beans. .Palate: Rich creamy Mouthfeel. Very little carbonation. Medium to full body. Warming. .Overall: B+ .Bottom Line: Well made imperial stout - Looks awesome in the glass, with a pleasant aroma of sweet roasted malt to match. Tastes great, very intense flavor with a long finish. The alcohol is not completely hidden, but it has a very warming quality about it on the palate. Not much chocolate flavor in this 'chocolate stout,' enjoyable none the less. B+

Big fan of this stout, but I also like sweet stouts so drinker beware. Sweet roasted malts, caramel, coffee - all the things you are looking for. Pours dark brown, lasting head, again... sweet. One beer at max, but very enjoyable.
