COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Bottle: pours a very strong and dense head that compliments the dark black colour and sweet chocolate taste. Almost a syrupy thickness to it - a good body with a long finish. I’d love to find a place that has this on tap.

UPDATED: NOV 15, 2017 ABV - 10 .Appearance: Jet black motor oil, nice frothy dark tan head. Head doesn't retain for long. A great looking stout in the glass. .Aroma: Roasted malt, licorice, dark fruits, slight booze. .Taste: Upfront roasted malt sweetness, very powerful Taste that intensifies through the finish. Slight bitterness on the end. Notes of dark fruit, licorice, cocoa, coffee beans. .Palate: Rich creamy Mouthfeel. Very little carbonation. Medium to full body. Warming. .Overall: B+ .Well made imperial stout - Looks awesome in the glass, with a pleasant aroma of sweet roasted malt to match. Tastes great, very intense flavor with a long finish. The alcohol is not completely hidden, but it has a very warming quality about it on the palate. Not much chocolate flavor in this 'chocolate stout,' enjoyable none the less. B+

Big fan of this stout, but I also like sweet stouts so drinker beware. Sweet roasted malts, caramel, coffee - all the things you are looking for. Pours dark brown, lasting head, again... sweet. One beer at max, but very enjoyable.

I'm not about this gummy mouth feel thing going on in stouts right now. It just tastes like sugar and it is gummy. No thank you

Pours inky black with minimal, light brown head. Sweet malt aroma, caramel, roasted malt. Flavor is sweet malt, hints of roast coffee and chocolate. Rich mouthfeel. Bittersweet, warming finish. Light carbonation. A very potent sweet stout.

Complex beer with different nuances of aroma and taste very well balanced out. U can taste them all separatly without one being dominant , lasting enjoyable aftertaste. Definately a very good beer. Nice surprise.

Smells roasty with distinct dark chocolate notes and slight booze. Looks magnificent - midnight black with a dense brown head. Taste follows the aroma with a welcome addition of oak and a hop bite in the aftertaste. Palate is not thick but it is smooth with more carbonation than expected but it works. This is good; reminds me of Bell's Expedition Stout. I'm throwing a few bottles in the cellar and I predict that they will age very well.

12floz bottle, winter 2017 edition, ~$1.75 unit price, pint glass. Appears nearly black in color and a small layer of head. Mmm...chocolatey, toasted graham cracker, and brown sugar are abundantly noted as aromas and flavors.Sweet on the tip and roasty in the finish, the palate is full and has bold character. I really enjoyed this a decade ago, and I do still today - which it has recently been made available to me locally.
