COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Barrel-aged in Woodford Reserve barrels. Brooklyn Black Ops does not exist. However, if it did exist, it would be a robust stout concocted by the Brooklyn brewing team under cover of secrecy and hidden from everyone else at the brewery. Supposedly, "Black Ops" was aged for four months in bourbon barrels, bottled flat, and re-fermented with Champagne yeast, creating big chocolate and coffee flavors with a rich underpinning of vanilla-like oak notes. They say it’s vanishingly rare. We have no idea what they’re talking about.

Aromas of roasted coffee, caramel, cinnamon, maple, and dark fruit. Jet black with a well retaining, tan head. Dry, earthy, strong with some booze, subtle apple, and roasty bitterness. Full bodied, moderate carbonation, and a dry, chocolatey, earthy finish.

2012 bottle: Black pour, dark tan head. Aroma is chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, roast, some dried and darker fruits, oxidation. Full bodied, still smooth, chocolate and barrel flavors dominate with detectable oxidation. Still good after 5 years.

2016 bottle. Dense, oily, opaque black body with a minimal tan head. Complex aroma of chocolate, espresso, roast malt in a boozy mix. The complex flavor follows the aroma. Big bodied, alcoholic warming boozy sipper.

Black as night, full bodied. Chocolate and coffee. Bourbon, vanilla and oak. Very complex and yet so subtle. Brilliant!

2013 version, still has plenty of fizz when poured. Big bourbon/black licorice/coffee/chocolate aroma, similar to many barrel aged stouts but boozier. Ink black with a brown head that disappears into nothing. Tastes chocolatey with dark coffee and roast at the end but very smooth and drinkable. May be the age of the bottle; I have never drunk this fresh. Silky palate, surprisingly easy drinking. This was really good.

Pours a dark black with a think khaki head. The aroma is bourbon, alcohol, dark fruit, figs, dates, coffee, and faint chocolate. The flavor is more mellow than the aroma but still packs a punch. The flavor is chocolate, coffee, vanilla oak, some dark fruits. There is some bourbon and alcohol present in the flavor but it’s not too overpowering. The mouthfeel is heavy and drinkability is low, very much a sipper.

Tap; pours black with a brown head; aroma of bourbon, roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, and hints of wood and vanilla; taste is light sweet with chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and then some light bitter coffee and roasted malt; dry finish with lingering roasted notes and some alcohol warming

@Basunen 17-4-1: Rätt trevlig med tydlig sötaktig ton av cognac. En del choklad och vanilj. Fin fyllighet. Trevlig eftersmak.

Bottled, 355ml aged 8yrs from the now closed Bellinger’s Garage, Grove, Oxon. Black with tan head. There is a big, bitter, dark chocolate character to this from the start, filling on the palate along with licorice and a touch of coffee grounds. Later a sweet vanilla note mingles through with a boozy, alcohol note. A challenge to the flavour buds.

Elegant doft med mycket mjuka toner av lätt parfymaktiga bourbon. Helt svart brygd. Ett tätt, inte särskilt stort, men snabbt upplöst skum. Fantastiska, mjukt rostade toner i smaken.
