Barrel-aged in Woodford Reserve barrels. Brooklyn Black Ops does not exist. However, if it did exist, it would be a robust stout concocted by the Brooklyn brewing team under cover of secrecy and hidden from everyone else at the brewery. Supposedly, "Black Ops" was aged for four months in bourbon barrels, bottled flat, and re-fermented with Champagne yeast, creating big chocolate and coffee flavors with a rich underpinning of vanilla-like oak notes. They say it’s vanishingly rare. We have no idea what they’re talking about.

2016 bottle. Mahogany colored beer with a short lived beige head. Big alcohol nose. Lots of thin boutbon flavors, milk chocolate and alcohol. Seems dominated by the bourbon barrel.

Stoned99 (1650) - St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 6, 2017
750ml bottle, Q4 2015. Molasses, candied fruits, licorice, raisin, alcohol. App: dark brown, big moka head with no retention. Taste and palate: medium body, liquoreux a bit tasteless for some reason, maybe a bit of chocolate, light acidity finish. Overall: hum. Not too sure. Seems to lack depth which is surprising for a 11.6 abv imperial stout. Seriously boring. Can't believe I paid that much for that bottle.

Sampled from bottle at Foeder's bottleshare 28 September 2017. Black color. Beige head, quickly receding. Aroma's are sweetish, red fruit, light vanilla. Retronasal it's whiskey, fruit, alcohol. Flavor is moderate sweet, very fruity, champagne-like. Strong alcohol feel. Under medium bodied. Long finish, light dry, roasty, light bitter. Not too impressed to be honest.

Hopmaestro (1720) - Örebro, SWEDEN - SEP 18, 2017
Aroma has hard roasted malts, chocolate, wood and bourbon. Taste is big chocolates and also carries some raisins. Licorice and vague roasted nuts. Warming alcohol. Solid as a rock, but maybe not over the top these days. If you do like more classical Imp's, you should most definitely choose this one.

Intense dark chocolate, sweet, dark fruits, candied, dark berries, spices, liquorice, dark toasted malts. Hazy, very dark brown, small, creamy, beige head. Light sweet. More dark chocolate, cacao, more spices, sweet, dark roast coffee, nutmeg, very soft carbonation, full bodied. Outstanding Impy, rich and complex, a Christmas cake. Cask at Rattle'n'Hum West, Manhattan
