COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Barrel-aged in Woodford Reserve barrels. Brooklyn Black Ops does not exist. However, if it did exist, it would be a robust stout concocted by the Brooklyn brewing team under cover of secrecy and hidden from everyone else at the brewery. Supposedly, "Black Ops" was aged for four months in bourbon barrels, bottled flat, and re-fermented with Champagne yeast, creating big chocolate and coffee flavors with a rich underpinning of vanilla-like oak notes. They say it’s vanishingly rare. We have no idea what they’re talking about.

KajII (801) - Macon, North Carolina, USA - MAR 12, 2012
Bollte. The pour was a thick deep dark black with an average sized (1-2 finger) medium cocoa brown rocky head that had awesome retention, reducing to a nice thick cap of foam and had really excellent sheets of lace. The aroma was bold and robust of a roasted chocolate malt and a stringent leathery yeast with notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, molasses, vanilla, licorice and a vivacious bourbon scent. The taste was extremely malty and a tad sweet with hints of coffee and molasses at first and then became ever so lightly bitter with notes of chocolate, vanilla and a mild bourbon taste towards the end. The flavor lingered for a good long while allowing for the chocolate, coffee and vanilla taste to blend as the alcohol taste faded. Mouthfeel was bold and full in body with an extremely creamy texture and a moderately strong carbonation. Overall a fully robust Stout with a nice hint of vanilla to go along with everything else this brew had going for it...

Sampled @OlutExpo 2017, Helsinki. Label said 11.5% Poured pretty much pitch black in color with a thin brown head. Lots of dark chocolate notes, barrel notes, massive roastedness. Coffee in flavor, roastedness, dark chocolate and some oaky thing. Full bodied, heavy, sweet and quite complex with layers of flavors. Slow sipper.

2016 bottle. Mahogany colored beer with a short lived beige head. Big alcohol nose. Lots of thin boutbon flavors, milk chocolate and alcohol. Seems dominated by the bourbon barrel.

Stoned99 (1674) - St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 6, 2017
750ml bottle, Q4 2015. Molasses, candied fruits, licorice, raisin, alcohol. App: dark brown, big moka head with no retention. Taste and palate: medium body, liquoreux a bit tasteless for some reason, maybe a bit of chocolate, light acidity finish. Overall: hum. Not too sure. Seems to lack depth which is surprising for a 11.6 abv imperial stout. Seriously boring. Can't believe I paid that much for that bottle.

PotjeBier (3735) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - SEP 29, 2017
Sampled from bottle at Foeder's bottleshare 28 September 2017. Black color. Beige head, quickly receding. Aroma's are sweetish, red fruit, light vanilla. Retronasal it's whiskey, fruit, alcohol. Flavor is moderate sweet, very fruity, champagne-like. Strong alcohol feel. Under medium bodied. Long finish, light dry, roasty, light bitter. Not too impressed to be honest.

Hopmaestro (1753) - Örebro, SWEDEN - SEP 18, 2017
Aroma has hard roasted malts, chocolate, wood and bourbon. Taste is big chocolates and also carries some raisins. Licorice and vague roasted nuts. Warming alcohol. Solid as a rock, but maybe not over the top these days. If you do like more classical Imp's, you should most definitely choose this one.

MrTipple (6471) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 13, 2017
Intense dark chocolate, sweet, dark fruits, candied, dark berries, spices, liquorice, dark toasted malts. Hazy, very dark brown, small, creamy, beige head. Light sweet. More dark chocolate, cacao, more spices, sweet, dark roast coffee, nutmeg, very soft carbonation, full bodied. Outstanding Impy, rich and complex, a Christmas cake. Cask at Rattle'n'Hum West, Manhattan

Deep rich chocolate, vanilla, marshmallows. Nice and mighty but a bit too sweet. Nice long roasty finish.

Very good. I think it's one of the best stouts I've ever tried. Sorry to say, it's probably the last one ever too. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
