COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brew our beer in New York, about halfway between the hop fields of the Pacific Northwest and the hop fields of Kent, England. So we use earthy English hops to build the foundation and bright citrusy American hops to bring the noise in the rambunctious IPA we call BLAST! British Maris Otter and German Pilsner malts lends solidity, balance and bready flavors to brace up a beer that’s beautifully hoppy, strangely quaffable and oddly compelling. Minerally hop bitterness is followed by a shock wave of flavor and aroma. You won’t even know what hit you.

Malts: Scottish Floor-malted Maris Otter, German Pilsner Malt

Hops: Willamette, Magnum, Cascade, Fuggle, Aurora, Zythos, Bravo, Simcoe, Sorachi Ace, Amarillo, Experiment 6300

12 oz Bottle. Tasted on 6/23/14. Bottle from Total Wine Tampa, FL. The aroma has strong floral notes, some pine & a mild resin. Taste has floral notes & a mostly sweet with a strong malt that offsets the bitterness. Overall a little sweet for my taste but overall not bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sample at beer event. Pours clear yellow gold with tall white head. Aroma is bold - orange, lemon, grapefruit, tangerine, misc. floral. Taste is pine/spruce with some lemon peel and a quick finish. Really solid.

Bottle. (8.4% ABV is listed on the bottle, so I’m not sure if this should be a new listing) Clear light orange pour, small spotty carbonation and an aroma of light lemongrass and hops. Flavor is some light malt, lemon rinds and finishes dry. Not bad, but not worth the $12/4-pack.

Cloudy amber with a small white head. Fruity and hoppy tones. Malt, fruit and bitterness. Medium to full body with a nice bitter finish.

Bottle: The aroma consists of big citrus, lemon, tropical fruits, and faint dank hops, It pours a transparent orange with a two finger yellow tinted off-white head that fades to a thin film. There is some soapy webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with a quick dose of citrus. There is a pretty good dose of caramel in the finish. The finish has moderate citrus hops, lemon grass, orange peel, and a touch of floral notes. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel. Overall, the lemon grass really makes this a strange combination of flavors.

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2014 Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a slightly hazy orange body with a small white head. Nose is intense peachy tones, red berries, apricot, mango, hints of pine and mango. Quite lovely, really. Taste is red berries, apricot, grass and hints of mango and peaches. Medium to full body, medium carbonation. Not bad, a very archetypical DIPA from Brooklyn, but the aroma outdoes the actual taste.

Bottle: Cloudy, deep golden-yellow body with a moderate white head that foams up quickly & settles as a timid skin & ring around the glass. Aroma of dirty hops; big dankness, sticky & skunky just a bit with a strong earth & dirt undertone. Big resinous note. Pine, faint floral tones, & a back-end with some dripping citrus flesh. Bigger citrus presence on the palate... Quite large, actually, with strong notes of grapefruit, orange flesh, & mild lemon even. Hints here & there of resinous pine, hop oil, & a bit of sweetness that’s hard to pinpoint - the malt is mostly pale with only a minor biscuit note, no caramel or toffee flavors in this one. Zesty lemon, orange & herbal tea leaves linger into the finish, dry & medium bodied overall. A pretty tasty DIPA when all is said & done.

Hazy amber/orange color. Hoppy aroma of orange and fruits with caramel. Sweet taste of fruits , pine and caramel malt , balanced by soft hoppy bitterness. Very soft and drinkable double IPA.

12oz bottle from 4pack purchased at Charlestown Wine & Spirits RI. Pours a hazy golden with a foamy white head. Smells of biscuit flavored malts, I also pick up some alcohol from the aroma not much complex. Light bodied, moderate carbonation and easy drinkability when cold the alcohol is well hidden, packs a punch at 9% which I can feel. Hops are light and citrisy, the biscuit malt backbone is more dominant in what is a well balanced brew. Brooklyn really likes there English malts not a far cry from the original IPA or summer none of which or bad so I’ll drop it.
