We brew our beer in New York, about halfway between the hop fields of the Pacific Northwest and the hop fields of Kent, England. So we use earthy English hops to build the foundation and bright citrusy American hops to bring the noise in the rambunctious IPA we call BLAST! British Maris Otter and German Pilsner malts lends solidity, balance and bready flavors to brace up a beer that’s beautifully hoppy, strangely quaffable and oddly compelling. Minerally hop bitterness is followed by a shock wave of flavor and aroma. You won’t even know what hit you.

Malts: Scottish Floor-malted Maris Otter, German Pilsner Malt

Hops: Willamette, Magnum, Cascade, Fuggle, Aurora, Zythos, Bravo, Simcoe, Sorachi Ace, Amarillo, Experiment 6300

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a hazy golden orange with a medium white head. Aroma of resinous hops galore, caramel malts and some feint tropical fruits. Flavour is rich and resinous, with full-bodied resinous hops coating the palate, along with a big whopping caramel malt backbone, a bit of citrus and tropical fruits. Like many others out there, but executed very well. Great stuff.

Draught, Moonraker
Cloudy beige-straw colour. Very heady hop nose (lime, resin, kumquat, grapefruit). Somewhat full and yeasty body. Kumquat, pine and seabreeze notes are almost cologne-like. Both sweet and hoppy...a fairly unique characteristic. Distinctive, and extremely American.

Bottle @ DØE. Hazy golden with small white head. Aroma is malt, fruit, peach, hop, caramel and citrus. Flavour is malt, fruit, hop, caramel, peach, citrus, medium sweet and medium bitter.

UPDATED: SEP 14, 2010 On tap at Fynske Øldage, Odense, Denmark. Served by the brewmaster himself. Clear golden beer with a dense offwhite head. Nice lacings. Aroma of american hops, citric and fruity. Full bodied taste of citrus, grapefruit with hops and pine in the background. Dry, hopbitter finish. Rating: 8-4-8-4-18-4.2. 051029

On tap at KØ-10. a clear, golden beer topped by a dense, off-white head. Lots of citrus and resins on the nose, some alcohol, and a biscuity maltyness in the back. The flavor has a biscuity background, with citrusy, piney bitterness up front. Some alcohol warmth too, full-bodied and dry. Lasting finish with some sweetness, but it’s mostly hoppy flavors. A really lovely DIPA. 100507

Tap (OlutExpo2015, Helsinki)
Some shampoo soapiness - head and shoulders. Getting some US-05 fingerprint in there too. Bright gold, clear, small tight head. Smells a bit alcoholic, but there’s none in the taste. Super freshi hops in the taste, simple caramelly and bready malts too. Finish has dry bitter husky grains, bitter hops and alas some soapiness in the finish.

Dedollewaitor (16360) - Odense, DENMARK - JUL 17, 2015
Bottle @ Odense Summer Gathering, 2015. Pours cloudy golden with a white head. Caramel, bread, vague alcohol and faint hops, Sorachi ace still. Bubblegum and dill. Well crafted and quite sippable BarleyWine

Ferris (16301) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 4, 2013
Draft - Tons of tropical fruit, so pleasant and a nice contrast to the pine/grapefruit we normally see. Cloudy orange with a thick medium head. Citrus punch of the bat with more tropical fruit and a mild bitterness. Very deceptive flavour considering the high ABV. Dry finish with a hint of resin. Very different, but pretty good.

MiP (15962) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - NOV 11, 2005
UPDATED: SEP 7, 2008 Draught. Very nice aroma. Dry-hopped? Almost clear, golden colour. Small white head. Very nice, dusty maltiness, and some very nice, aromatic hoppiness. 8 3 8 3 17

Scopey (15522) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 29, 2012
Keg at Evening Star, Brighton. It pours hazy orange-amber, with a long-lasting thick off-white head. The nose is sweet orange, tangerine, apricot, peach, white grape and sweaty socks. The taste is orange, clementine, marmalade, white grape, pine and resin, with bitterness in the finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Well balanced and easy drinking. Good Stuff.
