Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy dark brown body with a small wispy brown head. Roasty and bourbon laced nose with some moderate alcohol. The flavor is very chocolaty and roasty with pretty moderate bourbon flavor. Some nice light vanilla and char on the finish. Medium to full bodied with a touch of stickiness and soft fizzy carbonation. A little alcohol heat. Pretty nice beer, but not exceptional.

On tap at KØ-10, poured by G.O. It’s a clear, brown beer topped by a small, beige head. Looking really nice. Typical brown ale aromas, with caramel and dried fruits. Not much impact from the barrels neither in aroma nor in the mouth. Caramel and lots of fruityness in the flavor, mostly of the dark, dried kind. Full-bodied and super-smooth in the mouth. Lasting finish with fruits and roasted malts. A really pleasant and balanced beer. 100507

UPDATED: NOV 20, 2010 Sample at Jackie O’s BBDA and Oil of Aphrodite Release and Barrel aged Beer Festival on 9/11/10. Pours a murky deep brown color with a medium off-white head that dissipates slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, oak and vanilla. Medium to full body with flavors of roasted malt, caramel, dark fruit and vanilla. The finish is roasty and woody with a dark malty aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Sample during Jackie O’s BBDA and Oil of Aphrodite Release and Barrel aged Beer Festival on 9/11/10. Dark brown pour with a medium tan head. Caramel malt nose with bourbon and fruit notes. Flavor starts with caramel and vanilla, then adds fruit and a bit of hop before a creamy finish. Still maintained a nice dryness and a bit of roastiness throughout that I wouldn’t have expected for the style.

On tap at Jackie O’s during the Barrel Aged Beer Festival. Poured a hazy yellow brown with a light brown head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma was full of sweet grain and caramel with a nice sweet bourbon note. Flavor was similar with the sweet grain and caramel being backed by a nice bourbon note. Beer went down smooth as well.
