For about eight years now, weve brewed a Brooklyn-style hop monster called BLAST! Its a robust IPA using both British and Pacific Northwest hops. We havent had enough space to brew much of it, but we hear that people really enjoy BLAST! when it shows up. And its one of our favorite beers here at the brewery. Well, now wed like more of you to see our hoppier side. Meet BLAST!s big brother, Brooklyn Detonation Ale. Its a copper-colored pale ale with British malt character, American hop ebullience, Brooklyn attitude and disturbing drinkability. British caramel malts lend richness and depth, while a blend of American hops give the beer a minerally backbone and explosive aromatics (with a special guest appearance by our pal East Kent Golding as The English Aristocrat). Brooklyn Detonation Ale is mighty tasty. It probably even gives you fresher breath And whiter teeth, but we cant prove that part. Nor can we support the claim that it concentrates the mind on lifes better aspects. However, we can guarantee that its terrific with pork tacos, Thai food, Indian dishes, burgers, and sharp cheeses. So have yourself some Brooklyn Detonation Ale after all, isnt it about time you blew up? Garrett Oliver

VERY clear, coppery pour. Moderate head quickly dissipates. Noseful of hoppiness! Resiny pine, booze, malt in the back. Heavyish mouthfeel. Carmelly with bitter finish. It is too tasty and too drinkable for this ABV level. Nice!!

Guess I have been on a hop kick lately and this may be one of the ones that got me going. Aroma and flavor are quite balanced. Nice hop bitterness, citrus. Pretty wet hop flavor, doesnt really dry out, nice and juicy. Some pine and sticky hops, good balance with some sweet caramel malts, good body and nice and drinkable.

A full flavored IIPa. big hop aroma, with surpsingly, some coffee. Medium sweet from malt, but also big hop flavor, with a moderate hop burn. Very good palate. Gold color.

Pours hazy amber with an off white head. Smells of sweet and bitter citrus, some resiny undertones, some sweet malty hints. Tastes resiny with some sweet citrus, some piney hints and a bitter spicy finish.

Appearance: blood orange under an off-white/pithy head minimal, thanks to a headless draft pour. A thin film covers most of the beer.
Nose: orange oils and bitterness of orange skins front and center. Pine in the back with melba toast underneath. Bitter orange zips throughout. More pine needles along with some Christmas trees. Not complex but aggressive.
Palate: full and sticky, coating top of tongue and lips. Orange nectar than zest, skins, and oils. Pine trees, pine cones, and Christmas trees. Melba and caramelized crunch underneath. Orange oils mingle with freshly squeezed hop oils. Honeycomb joins the mix. Whole hop cones.
Final Thoughts: big, bold, and supremely lip-smacking delicious. Another winner from Garrett Oliver of Brooklyn Brewery.

Growler pour thanks to Skyview. Light orange pour, little carbonation and an aroma of HOT sweet hops. Flavor is a light, sweet orange hops, slightly biting and finished a bit dry. Decent beer, but not great.

[Growler] shared by skyview. Thanks! Pours hazy gold with a thin ring of foam. Aroma is resinous hops, lightly piney and skunky, lemon, and green tea. Flavor is tea, lemongrass, light pine, and a little sulfur. Sharp mouthfeel, moderate bitterness.

Bitter aroma on this gold color. A little grainy in both aroma and flavor. Well balanced but typical.

Sample from a growler shared by shigadeyo. Pours a hazy orange amber with a medium off white head. The nose is full of sticky fruity hops, tropical notes, some floral, with some sweet caramel malt. The flavor doesnt quite pop like the nose but contains some nice fruity and floral hops, more grassy hops and a nice caramel malt component. The 10+% does make an appearance late. Pretty well done and very drinkable.

Draft at the gate. Smells sweet, piney and syrupy. Taste is similar. Really good and crisp. A little boozy but still drinkable
