COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, originally a summer seasonal, has been getting raves since becoming a year round offering in 1996. Garrett Oliver, a student of English brewing and beer history, uses English malts and hops to brew his EIPA in the classic, heavily-hopped style of the 19th century beers created for British soldiers serving in India.

DATE TASTED: July 28, 2013 ... GLASSWARE: Howard’s Pub pint... OCCASION: celebrating twelve years of marriage to my only love and my best friend... APPEARANCE: handsome burnt orange body with consistent carbonation; thick/cloudy proud white head--solid... AROMA: crisp floral hops with caramel malts as a base; a bit of pine resin, but overall a relaxed, balanced IPA ... PALATE: medium-to-full bodied, with a strong presence throughout the mouth reasonable aftertaste...TASTE: a nice balance of sweet malts and bitter hops--not really pushing either aspect, to the point where this could be considered a straight pale by flavor... OVERALL: Having had many Brooklyns in the past, it was high time I rate some; the fourth in a series of IPAs this weekend, this brew doesn’t stun or disappoint--it fulfills its duty and eases one into the evening with a sessionable sensibility...

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

0.335 l bottle, a gift from my GF. Pours deep, clear golden and persistent head. Nose is spicy and slightly bitter hops, and faint alcohol. In taste the hops are clearly detectable, but only with moderate bitter notes and there's some sweetness to it too. Finish is short and faint bitteress again. Light bodied with average carbonation. Decent European style IPA.

Bottle. Floral, elderflower, citrus, biscuit, balanced. Herbal bitter with a grassy aftertaste though not too dry. Good, if a tad too grassy.

Bottle at some jazz bar in Greenwich Village. Bitter and metallic. An ok alternative to the lagers that were available.
