Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, originally a summer seasonal, has been getting raves since becoming a year round offering in 1996. Garrett Oliver, a student of English brewing and beer history, uses English malts and hops to brew his EIPA in the classic, heavily-hopped style of the 19th century beers created for British soldiers serving in India.

Pours a hazy orange/amber with a medium lt tan head. Aroma has earthy/spicy hops, a touch of pine, and toffee...a bit of a vomit scent in there. Flavor has sweet toffee notes, caramel, tea, earthy/spicy hops, and a touch of resin or pine. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish is earthy and bitter.

Fine IPA, but it lacks serious character imo. Not as smooth and herblike as many other golden US IPAs. It seems hard for big breweries to come up with something with real style.

Tipica ipa. Colore tra oro e rame schiuma moderata. Mediamente amara, si sentono i luppoli. Secca sul finale.

355ml can. Pours golden amber with an off white head. Medium carbonation. Nose is really biscuit and bready, burnt caramel, treacle and some citrus in the background. Sweet, malty medium dense mouth feel. Taste is biscuit, caramel, treacle and orange/grapefruit peel. Very bitter. Touch of pine resin in the finish. An old school IPA. Pretty nice, just a little over sweet for me.

Head disappears into nowhere a minute or so after pouring. Golden / amber brown in colour. Strong malty backbone with decent levels of refreshing hop aftertaste. Not the best from Brooklyn but very welcoming and very warming at the strength of 6.9%.

GuilleDF (4) - - OCT 2, 2017 does not count
UPDATED: OCT 2, 2017 Orange copper colour, quite transparent. White head with a short lifespan. Smell is hoppy with a touch of fruits and caramel. Taste is light and moderately bitter. Aftertaste is also bitter but not very long-lasting.

UPDATED: OCT 1, 2017 Godt humlet i næsen. Lidt citrus og lidt florale noter. God bitter smag og en let sødme. Dejlig IPA.

330 ml can,bb 11/01/2018. Amber, clear, off white head. Heavy malt aroma (always puts me off) and pine in background. Taste - malt, bitter. Meh.

Schnabelhund (108) - TAIWAN - SEP 23, 2017
The color is copper to light orange and slightly hazy. The head is rather soapy and has a medium lifespan. The nose is ripe with notes of muscat, tangerine, herbs, and an afternoon walk in a pine forest. Upon taking a mouthful, the malts attempt to unfold their biscuit flavors when suddenly the hops of four varieties strike with floral bitterness, tangerine peels, herbs, and grape seeds. The dry finish really sticks around and leaves impressions of hazel nuts and tannic tangerine peels behind. A well-balanced hoppy delight.
