Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

I had this one on draft at the Emerald Coast Brew Fest in Pensacola, FL. Nice hop aroma and attractive amber color. The taste was very hoppy and really appealed to me. The drinkability was very high. I would recommend and will definitely have again, and I’m not a huge fan of lagers. Mouthfeel is a bit thin. Good beer.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2008 Bottle. Golden amber color, with two fingers of fluffy, white head. Already I can sense that this beer is no ordinary run-of-the-mill lager. The aroma is pretty consistant with that of a pale or amber ale. Very hoppy. Grapefruit, other citrus. Some malts as well, although nothing stands out overall there. The flavor also seems less like a lager and more like an ale. Light hoppiness, which means the standard array of citrus notes and some malts, too. Watery body, very refreshing with a pleasing aftertaste. A very drinkable beer.

Clear amber with a good sized head. Medium body. Very clean flavour, sweet with caramel/toasted malt, well balanced with a good hit of hop bitterness. Straight-forward and refreshing.

Amber color. Great long lasting head. Very hoppy for a lager. I am not sure I have tasted a better lager.

Draft, copper color with a medium lasting head, very good hoppy flavor for a lager, wasn’t expecting it to have such a nice bite to it, nice bitter finish, overall it was a decent beer, nothing too great though.

12oz bottle. Honey orange colored body with a two finger, sudsy, pillowy off white head. Spotty lacing. Hop aromas pour into the room upon the inital opening of this beer. Also we have some malt notes, honey, biscuit dough and grapefruit, but mostly floral hops. Hops, citrus, dough and sweet honey come through as the beer is consumed. Mouthfeel is heavily astringent, light to medium bodied, somewhat sticky and oily on the palate. FInish is short in length, a bit bitter but overall pretty bland and finishes a bit watery at the very end. Was hoping for more.

UPDATED: OCT 29, 2007 Draft. Golden color with nice maltly toffee aroma. Very drinkable brew that reminds me of a cross between Sam Adams and Yuengling. A great brew that I will surely have more of. One of my favorites.

12 oz. bottle, best before May 08. Golden amber colour with a mostly lasting rich creamy and frothy beige head. Bready, toffee, orange, and grapefruit aroma. Bready and lightly sweet malts, a touch of toffee flavour, then a juicy grapefruit and orange peel bitter finish. Light to medium bodied and combines the crispness of a lager with the juiciness of an IPA. Good stuff - I want more.

pint - Aroma is mild malts with a touch of hops. Pours transparent gold with a small bubbly head and great lacing. Flavor is strong with sweet malts and the hops are more pronounced. Clean palate. Drinkable on a hot day and really not a bad brew.
