Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

A really easy beer to drink. Poured from the keg here in Australia comes out fresh and refreshing.

Strong hoppy aroma, for a lager. The colour, beautiful, is quite dark for a lager. Taste is nothing too strong, but quite bitter and pleasant, for a lager. Very easy to drink, the texture is thin and carbonation ideal, but it has an unusually bitter finish... for a lager. Overall a really well rounded beer of which you could drink gallons without getting tired of it, its pretty awesome. For a lager.

Pours dark, coppery gold from the bottle. Overall the optic here is noticeably darker than a typical lager. We are left with a big, fluffy head that slowly fades amid evident lacing. The aroma reminds one more of an IPA with its notable floral and tropical fruit notes. Noticeable are hints of pear, melon, honey and caramel. An interesting boquet. Taste is fruity sour and finishes bittersweet with caramel notes. Medium bodied with adequate carbonation. Overall exceptionally well balanced, and a good companion with or without food. I did not think a lager could be this good. Excellent!

UPDATED: DEC 25, 2016 Bottle. Pours amber with medium white foam. Smells of hops, pine, resin, fruit, sweet malts. It tastes like no other lager I have tried. Delicious for the style.

0.33 l bottle from local REWE, best before July 2017. Clear, amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish, moderately fruity, quite resiny and a bit soapy aroma of orange jam, mango and pine. Slightly bitter, a bit malty, fruity, quite resiny and slightly grassy taste of orange jam, mango, lots of pine, a touch of caramel and hints of straw, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, quite resiny and a bit grassy finish. Medium body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very tasty, a bit soapy in the aroma though. Still a very pleasant and refreshing beer!
