Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Bottle. Really aromatic, fruity hoppiness in the aroma. Good bite, hop dominated taste. Nice, prefers this to a lot of other beers.

Origin: Tap. Vessel: Half Pint Glass. Supplier: The Windmill (London). Served cold with sweet and floral taste.

Generally disappointing beer. Small, under-carbonated head with a mild but unexceptional nose. Flavor is fairly weak and extremely skunky- it tastes like drinking the sweat off the fur of a wet dog- with virtually no appeal whatsoever. Both hops and malt were sub-par. One of the worst beers I’ve ever tried.

Nice, uncomplicated lager with a rather sharp hop character. Notes of flowers and citrus coming from the hops, and a crisp malt character make it satisfactory enough for long drinking sessions.

draft at the metro. nice mix of malt and hops. Good crisp lager, but nothing special.

Brooklyn Lager pours a nice amber color with a foamy white head. There is a a lot of lacing as it dissipates. The aroma is grainy and bready. The flavor is mild, not too bitter. It finishes crisp, but there seems to be some chalkiness in the mouthfeel. This beer is OK.

Clear copper brew. Frothy head that lingers. Nose is mostly green hops and lots of em. Unmistakably dryhopped. Very chunky bitterness in the nose. Malt are absent. Carbonation is very apparent. Flavors are interesting for a vienna. Not hardly any malt sweetness mostly hoppy green goodness. As the beer warms more sweetness shines through. Very honey-ish with a bitter hop edge. As per style...I don’t know. As per beer....pretty decent

12oz. Wow, what a surprise! Pours amber red with a white head that disappears pretty quickly. Nose is sweet malt, red hots (cinnamon candy), and a bit of fig. Body is much more straight forward with some significant body for a lager... mostly bread-like yeasts, I have to say I am not a huge fan of the finish. A bit thin up front, but overall I am very impressed.

Bottle at home. Pours hazy amber with a decent white head. Aroma is bready, a bit of caramel and hops. Taste has a little hint of sourness, bit of fruits and bread, malt and hops. Nice beer.
