Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

50 cl [email protected] Airport in Brooklyn Lager [email protected] 7 degrees Centigrade. Pours clear orange with medium white head. Pretty faint aromas of malt and caramel with some American hops also present. The dry-hopping coming clearly through with a taste of floral American hop nicely balanced with malt, roasted malt and caramel. Not sweet, just round. Slightly bitter, lingering aftertaste. More hops, more taste that most lagers and I like that. Another good brew from Brookly Brewery.

Smells strongly of pleasant citrus hops. Pours a clear copper color with a small white head. Taste is refreshingly citrusy with a nice light feel to it. Tastes like a lagered pale ale. Fantastic.

Theres a honeyed caramel note on the nose whereas the palate has more hops with a lovely mild bitter, hoppy finish. Theres a great, creamy body to it as well. A wonderful lager.

UPDATED: SEP 9, 2006 This beer is good, but what the heck is pre-prohibition about it? Pre-prohibition lagers are made from 6-row and corn, which this has neither. And they didnt use cascade hops, which dominate this beer. Good, but a big fat lie.

I had this one at Shea Stadium, in a plastic cup. It had a big white head over a dark gold brew. The head up and left sip lines on the plastic cup. Well balanced hops and malt, neither too strong but had a full-bodied effect. A pleasant beer. It went down easy.

Nice deep amber pour with a thin off-white head. Mild floral hop aroma with some bread or yeast smells. Slightly hoppy with some notes of caramel malts. Pretty tasty overall and Id drink it again, but I wouldnt go out of my way to get it. Nothing special.

A - pours heavy and amber with a 2 finger head that lasted a while into a thickish film S - pale and caramel malt, biscuity and hoppy nicely done T - A malty lager with a very decent hop profile. Biscuity and even a bit of tang at the end. Refreshing and satisfying. MF - light bodied but full for the style, carbonation was decent large bubbles that are typical for lagers O - Better than the sum of its parts, a very good lager

Poured from bottle to a lager glass a nice amber color - a nice dark amber for a American lager. Pours carbonated and with a decent head. You can smell the hops right after the pour, very hoppy. A little bitter on the palate but the taste is very consistent and smooth. Certainly at the top of my Lager list and probably my favorite Brooklyn.
