Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Bottle. Amber to slightly darker. A thick dense off-white head with an almost greenish tinge. A massive whack of citrus-y hop aroma. Some malt up front with a hoppy, very bitter finish which almost tastes a little burnt. A good beer but perhaps not one I could have too many of in a session.

Little detectable aroma aside from some faint yeast. Clear golden with a thin head. Crisp and pleasantly bitter.

clear gold, fluffy white head, good lace. nice balance of sweet malts, and mild hoppiness in the nose (my notes say good smell!). flavor follows the nose with a sweet malt start, followed by a hoppy bitterness. light body, nice bitter finish. i didnt expect to enjoy this one much, but i was reallty surprised. a good sessionable beer (i had more than one). i had several bottles of this at the bar in the newark airport rennaisance hotel.

Aroma of floral spruce. It poured a filtered light brown color with beautiful lacing. I tasted flowery hops with a caramel finish. Overall this is the best premium lager Ive ever had.

Draught at Oliver Twist (Stochkolm).
Orange clearly color with reddish reflex. Compact and homogenous head, discreet resistance. Pleasant aroma with wood notes, banana, stum. Decidedly bitter taste but altogether balanced, pleasant and of optimal duration.

Bottle. Pours a nice filtered amber/orange color with a big frothy white head. Aroma is filled with caramel and a slight amount of hoppy bitterness. Not a complex aroma at all, as with most lagers. The flavor has a solid malty backbone, with alot of caramel malts. On top of that you also get a decent amount of floral hops, and a clean hop bitterness in the finish. The body is medium and slightly creamy. Overal this is a really good lager, that is very similar to the Samuel Adams Boston Lager. But i think i prefer this one.

12 oz. bottle. Pours nice, clear honey-ish amber with visible carbonation. One-finger white head. Nose was somewhat lacking- got a brief hoppiness that disappeared quickly leaving just a little malty note. Medium body. Nice little bit of hop bitterness but sweet malts dominate through a crisp finish. Definitely a good beer if Im in the mood for it, but I just think its not really my style.

Light amber, frothy head. Surprising aroma of lightly grassy hops - probably because of the balance with the malt. Taste is slightly toasty malt and pine hops. Finish is a great bitterness. Its a good lager.

Tap at the Pencil Factory in Brooklyn, NY. Pours a dark golden orange with a big head. Aroma of sweet toasted malt and nuts. The taste starts off super sweet with notes of nuts and apricots roll into a slightly tinny/metallic finish. Fairly light bodied with medium carbonation. A nice lager, but east to get burned out on this after a few.
