COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Clear amber pour with a short-lived white head. Smells malty, of caramel and mashed grains. The taste is more bitter than the nose suggested, but well within the amber ale style. A decent beer.

Flasche (33 cl) aus einer Kaiser’s-Filiale, Berlin. - Kupferbraun, klar. - In der Nase sehr angenehme Hopfenaromen: Harz, Erde, dazu Karamel. - Antrunk mild karamelmalzig mit schön hintergründigen herbfruchtigen, harzig-erdigen Hopfenaromen. Durchschnittlich rezent, schlank.

I'm a 'hophead,' so naturally I'm partial to ales over lagers. However, some lagers make up for their hop-inadequacy by having a real tasty yeast that exudes fruity esters. I found a little of that in this beer. It was a little more flavorful than I expected. However, it still missed the mark. I'd rather have a Czech lager. It was three steps up from the traditional, 'American Lager' though.

A beer with a good quality taste. I tried it in New YOrk and was pleased with the quality.
