Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Pours a dark brown amber with a large frothy tan head. Coffee and caramel malt, with some aroma of leaves. Some floral hops and soy sauce aroma as well. Strong malt flavor with a light hop bite at end. This is a flavorful and drinkable lager. Very good.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2017 A very good look with great golden color and pale white head. Not strong aroma but hops afflict my tongue continually. In addiction,I think using a cup with normal temperature is better than a cold one.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2017 Farge: klassisk pils/gyllen Aroma: litt mais, Smak: hint av sitrus, havre, lett bitterhet, God balanse mellom alle faktorer. Et godt øl som kan nytes alene og til mat. 8,5/10

Nice fresh aroma. Good medium golden color, pale white head. Malty flavor with a touch of hops in the aftertaste. Comes off more like an Oktoberfest. Great palate, thick and low carbonation. Great take on the style. Well done.

From Mar 2008 I got this in a trade with yobdoog. Thanks Trevor! This pours(near room temp) a clear amber with a 2 finger head of foam. The smell has a nice note of sweet malt and a smaller note of hops. Overall, light on the nose. The taste is very nice. Nice malty flavour up front followed by a nice bittering hop flavour that gives it a good balance. It has a medium light mouthfeel, medium carbonation, and it finishes with those bittering hops that make for a nice dry ending. I had Brooklyn Lager in cans a few years ago and I liked it a lot back then. I *still* do. If it was available here, I'd drink it often. Btw, great head retention and some lacing as well.

Bottle. It's hard to give this a 3 as it is a decent beer but it doesn't have much flavour. At least it doesn't have any nasty palate though like many other lagers. A decent regular one.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2017 From tap. This is my third rating from tap today and I'm convinced this is not the proper way to rate beers for me. All beers appear to be bland and flat. Could be because the beers are from an automated wall where you can tap yourself. Okay, having that said, back to business. Slightly hazy yellow orange with a white head that slowly dissipates into a thin layer. Mild pilsner malts and a nice yeasty smell. Mildly lager bitter with some sweet caramelized sugar aftertaste. Thin to medium bodied and medium carbo. Nice, but as I said, hard to rate because of circumstances.

very heavy hops presence - ugh............. no real good beer flavor - unless you just wants hops.......... odd aftertastes that messed up anything possibly good

Nice amber/copper color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of toasted malt, floral hops, and spice; Flavor of slight roasted sweet malt, pine hops, and some caramel; Finish is slightly bitter; Nicely balanced; Solid.
