In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

Grabbed this out of the cellar. Its about a year old so nothing crazy. A: Looks good. Hazy golden wheaty color. Explosive head. I poured it into a glass with some laser etching and its going crazy. S: Very musty in the smell. Sugary. Alcohol. herbacious. A bit light. T: As with the smell only the mustiness is very well controlled. Lots of fruit notes. Lots of earthy notes. Very complex but a little acidic maybe. Alcohol is a little heavy not a lot of bite though. P: Carbonation is pretty good. Lots of flavors. Pretty full bodied. Overall this is a solid belgian beer. Very well balanced and brings all the critical aspects of a belgian. A little intense with the alcohol and the flavors are almost too complex to where no one stands out too much. Worth checking out.

Bottle from Alko, Helsinki. Pours cloudy bronze with a big frothy head. The aroma features grainy maltiness, floral hoppiness, fruitiness and Belgian yeastiness. Taste is medium to heavily sweet initially, later becoming slightly drier but staying sweet nonetheless; hop bitterness is low. Pale grainy maltiness provides the platform for Belgian yeast and fruitiness displaying especially orange. Some floral hop flavours appear as well. The palate is medium to full bodied, smooth and low in carbonation. Malt sweetness is a bit too prominent here; it does not give room for other Belgian dimensions.

Golden colour with big white foam. Aroma is somewhat sweet fruity and belgian yeast. Medium bodied, fizzy carbonation, rather long finish. Quite sweet from the malts and sugar not much bitterness though some dominating in the end. Alcohol very well hidden. Easy to drink.

Cloudy golden body, white head. Aroma has some yeasty fruits, alcohol, mellow maltiness. Some tangy orange zest in flavour. I liked this years ago when this came to market, now it feels quite bad.

Somehow after ten years of beer rating and also being aware of this beer, it is today that I am having it for the first time. Pour is orange with a frothy white head. Atoma is yeast, citrus, spice... smells very old school and Belgian. Taste is lightly sweet. Dry Belgian style bitterness. I appreciate what they did here.
