COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

DrnkMcDermott's rating

3.1
DrnkMcDermott (3096) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - AUG 18, 2010
Corked & caged 750 ml bottle #0667, bought 2007. Rating #2000! Again with the numerical milestones. Hey, I canít put this off until Bellís 10,000 comes out! So this slightly aged beer pours out hazy orange, with very little foam in my Goose tulip. Smells a bit of vodka. Closer in, the smell is some light malt, a bit of Belgian spice. Taste is zesty and tart, some malt, but soft like it used Burton water. Bit of tart cherry, pear juice and coriander. Then again, sourness has something of a green apple quality to it further down. Alcohol is not up front in the nose, would could be trouble for the unwary. Carbonation is firm, not unlike a champagne. Based on what I read. I donít read of tartness in any other reviews, so this is probably just this bottle. Thatís the chance you take cellaring a bottle-fermented beer, Enjoyable, but Iím not sure how to rate this yet. I think itís not what everyone else has experienced.

Pours golden, clear. Fantastic aroma which is dominated by yeast and fruit. The taste is well balanced between fruit, sweetness, yeasty sourness and bitterness at the end. A strong pale ale, not distinguishable from a Tripel. Very good!

Clear golden color with big white frothy head that stays long.Aroma of florals, hops, belgian yeast, malts and alcohol. Taste is sweet with belgian style yeast, combined with floral hoppiness. Alcohol finish. Low carbonation. Taste a bit too alcohol for me and pricey but overall very enjoyable.

Marstonlad (878) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAR 11, 2017
Bottle from Alko, Helsinki. Pours cloudy bronze with a big frothy head. The aroma features grainy maltiness, floral hoppiness, fruitiness and Belgian yeastiness. Taste is medium to heavily sweet initially, later becoming slightly drier but staying sweet nonetheless; hop bitterness is low. Pale grainy maltiness provides the platform for Belgian yeast and fruitiness displaying especially orange. Some floral hop flavours appear as well. The palate is medium to full bodied, smooth and low in carbonation. Malt sweetness is a bit too prominent here; it does not give room for other Belgian dimensions.
