In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2011 Bottle. Poured a cloudy medium yellowish orange with a very large (2-3 finger) white frothy head that had great longevity and excellent lacing. The aroma was moderately heavy of grain malts, an earthy yeast and flowery hops with nice notes of citrus, banana and a bit of spice (coriander I believe). It tasted kind of sweet with a hint of citrus at first and then became a bit bitter and quite yeasty with a mild alcohol finish leaving a nice bold flavor lingering on the taste buds for a long while. Mouthfeel was right in the middle of light and medium in body and had a dry texture with a nice prickly carbonation. Overall a great Strong Ale with a medley of components coming together for one really fantastic tasting brew which does a nice job of concealing the high alcohol content.

Cloudy golden body, white head. Aroma has some yeasty fruits, alcohol, mellow maltiness. Some tangy orange zest in flavour. I liked this years ago when this came to market, now it feels quite bad.

Somehow after ten years of beer rating and also being aware of this beer, it is today that I am having it for the first time. Pour is orange with a frothy white head. Atoma is yeast, citrus, spice... smells very old school and Belgian. Taste is lightly sweet. Dry Belgian style bitterness. I appreciate what they did here.

BB backlog, Bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange with a medium 2 finger white head. Smell is belgian fruit and yeast, orange peel, and light spices. Flavor is most of the same with some flowers, spices, and fruity yeast. Medium to fuller body.

[email protected] Light/medium slightly yeasty aroma with dry fruits like mango. Golden color with small white head and medium/light hazy liquid. Medium yeasty taste with dry fruits like mango, pear, apple, some malts and a hint of banana. Averagely balanced. Medium taste spectrum and medium aftertaste with wheat. Medium/light palate with light/medium carbonation. Overall, simple and lacks those earthy nuances in real Belgium products.

Bottle shared at Gremlin. Thanks Tohara-san! Classic Belgian tripel nose. With flowery and estery notes: pear, apple and clove. Clean and crisp on the palate, but with a soft, creaminess. Light clove and pepper on the finish. Hides the abv well. One of the better American tripel clones Ive had. Superbly good.
