COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Here in Brooklyn we’ve combined European malt and hops, Belgian dark sugar, and raw wildflower honey from a New York family farm to create Brooklyn Local 2. Our special Belgian yeast adds hints of spice to the dark fruit, caramel, and chocolate flavors. After 100% bottle re-fermentation, this ale reveals a marvelous dry complexity, enjoyable by itself or at the dinner table.

UPDATED: MAR 3, 2013 750ml Bottle. The pour was a clear medium brown with an average (1-2 finger) light brown frothy head that did not have the greatest retention, reducing to a puddled film and had good streaky lacing. The aroma was of a nutty dark bread malt, a mild funky Belgian yeast and a very slight hint of floral hops with notes of citrus (orange), honey, chocolate, dark fruit (overripe grapes and plums), and clove. The taste was a little acidic and mildly sweet with notes of citrus and honey and a mild malty dark roast undertone at first, and then became lightly bitter and a tad yeasty with hints of chocolate, dark fruit and had a mildly spicy alcohol finish. The flavor lasted an average duration following the swallow, with a mild spicy yeast taste left behind along with a slight alcohol warming sensation. Mouthfeel was between light and medium in body with an oily texture and a nice lively carbonation. Overall I found this to be a nice smooth and easy to drink brew, although I do think it could have been a little more flavorful for a Belgian Style Strong Ale... www.facebook.com/KAJIIsBeerReviews

The cork to the 750 ml bottle came out with a distinct pop. Great appearance, a very dark body with a red tinge through the light and a frothy beige top, long lasting. I smell yeast, cane sugar and a little floral. A great entry. The taste is less so. I get some maltiness and a light touch of ripe fruit. It finishes with a surprising dry bitterness. You could do worse with a Belgian style, just not real thrilling here.

I poured it from the bottle into a glass. It pours a red and brown color with a big, beige head and lacing. The aroma is brown sugar, dark fruit, and Belgian yeast. The taste is raisin, prune, date, brown sugar, honey, and spice. It’s got a nice, subtle sweetness. It drinks much smoother than the alcohol content would suggest. This is a very nice beer.

A brown color with a beige head. The aroma contains some honey, caramel, chocolate, floral notes, and raisins. The flavor is slightly sweet but mostly dry with some caramel, spiced fruit, honey, A bit of booze maybe like a brandy show up in there. Overall this is a nice Belgian strong.

07/10/16. Brooklen event at Wine Rack, West Byfleet. Initial strong and sour aroma. A sugary sweetness then develops. Alcohol evident when swirled. Dark brown with a red tint. Off white medium sized head. Surprisingly light bodied. Sweet: spoces and fruit. Dry finish. But surprisingly bland. Just has no depth to it.
