Notes from GABF 2010. Pours a hazy reddish-brown color with a small fading whitish head. The aroma is very interesting - sweet candy, spicy rye, oak, herbs, spices, and cherries. Lots going on, and it is a little Manhattan-like. The flavor is better than any Manhattan I’ve tried. Really tasty. Somewhat sweet with cherry and vinous notes, vermouth, rye, and oak. Definitely on the sweet side, but in this case, it works. Medium-full body with average carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. This was one hell of an interesting beer. Really unique and enjoyable. One of the few beers I am rating from GABF. Pours and amber and really does taste more like a cocktail then a beer. i get cherries and malt, it kind a sweet and watery mouthfeel for my taste. actually wasn’t crazy about this creation. BOLTZ7555 (3027) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - SEP 19, 2010
Sampled @ GABF! Nice chestnut pour with a soapy eggshell head. Aroma of fruit and nuts accompanied by rye and spice. Flavor shows caramel, tart cherry skin, and rye. Medium mouthfeel. Interesting but not a favorite. Glad I had a chance to try this one. beerguy101 (5360) - Newark, California, USA - SEP 19, 2010
Sampled at GABF on 9/16/2010. This rye beer pours a medium brown color from the bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, rye and juniper berries. A medium bodied rye beer. The malts are fruity and sweet, hints of juniper, perhaps a touch of vermouth and bourbon. The hops are herbal. Nice balance. Lots of different flavors here. Very smooth tasting. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. maniac (3800) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - SEP 17, 2010

Had this on tap at the House of Beer in Orlando.
Appearance: The beer was a nice amber, brown color with an off white head which dissapated quickly. Lacing was present throughout.
Smell: WOW! Very interesting aroma of cherries and spice. A lot going on in this beer.
Taste: Again WOW! A lot going on in this brew. Picked up cherries, interesting spices and maybe caramel? Nothing rye about this ale at all. Very malty with a slight hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with medium carbonation.
Overall: Insanely good! Really glad I was able to try this brew! Nickls (2590) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - JUN 30, 2010
(Old BA rate - tap)
Poured with a finger of khaki, dense head; good retention and curtain lacing; light burnt brown color that had some reddish tone as well. Piney hops at first; rye; sweet maltiness; dark fruits; alcohol is masked pretty well but a hint is there; cherries in the end of the aroma. Sweetish passion fruits; pine-lacquer hoppiness; sweeter maltiness; but a very dry, bready finish. Medium and creamy; subtle carbonation. Nice sipping brew, and it’s very tempting to take down quickly...nice stuff. An interesting brew conceptually and in the delivery, well done.

This draft brew from a beer bar poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a no visible carbonation dark brown colored body and a good lacing. The aroma was spicy and herb. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and strongly tingly at the finish with a lingering herbal aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of spices herbal cloves and cinnamon. An OK brew just nothing special. patrick767 (4115) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - JUN 2, 2010
draft at 800 degrees in Ft Wayne - Pours dark amber with a small head and smells of malt, rye, and spice. The flavor is of sweet malt, an ample rye profile, and spices. It’s medium to full bodied and very good. checkmatei1 (765) - Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 2, 2010
Draft: Poured a dark reddish brown with a minimal head. The aroma was sweet cherry and bubblegum. The flavor was earthy sweet and cherry. Overall, a sweet beer. Probably would not want to drink more than 2 but interesting non the less.
