3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the porter. Maple here is a little muted and I don’t think I would have recognized it if it wasn’t in the name. There is a bit of tang and sweetness though working throughout a nice smooth porter. Faint roasty malt and touch of bitterness on the finish. A nice drink.
On draft at Max’s in Baltimore. Pours a clear dark cola with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate. Flavors of smoke and maple. Medium bodied. Darkmagus82 (2302) - - MAY 19, 2014
Transfer from BA and reviewed on 2-12-12 -
Served in a chalice glass.
Appearance – Served a deep brown color with a tan head. The head fades giving some nice lacing.
Smell –The maple syrup is up front and potent with a bit of other sweet brown sugar aromas mixed in. While the maple aroma persists throughout the nose, some more roasted malts begin working their way in toward the middle and end of the aroma and round it out quite nicely.
Taste – Not as sweet as anticipated from the nose. A more roasted malt flavor of some barley and oat meet the tongue initially. A very light sweet brown sugar and maple come in toward the middle of the taste experience, but are much more mild then would be expected. The sweetness mingles with the maltiness toward the end laving a rather pleasant roasty maple flavor in the mouth at the end of the taste.
Mouthfeel – A good thickness with a very moderate level of carbonation. Fairly creamy and quite easy to drink.
Overall – A nice dark porter, with more subtle characteristics of maple sweetness. A good brew; not too sweet with a nice flavor and aroma profile.

On tap at the 2014 Secret Stash Bash (Atlanta).
Nice opaque near black body but almost no head.
Excellent aroma is fairly complex but moderately, at most, strong.
Hints of maple here unfortunately only appear in the taste as vague sweet notes. Mildly sweet but enough to make this seem best as a dessert or after dinner beer.
Near full body with medium (slightly too high?) carbonation. b3shine (9072) - Indiana, USA - JAN 18, 2014
Draft to taster. Looks good for the style; a translucent cola with beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells of dark malt, very mild maple syrup, and a touch of roast. Tastes like it smells with more maple. Average on the palate. A little thin, but not bad. LoFi (1747) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - DEC 29, 2013

Taste: sweet with toffee, soft roast, light fruity, milk chocolate, licorice.
Tastes nice, probably too sweet for some people though.

First tried it by myself and rated it, then also sampled it from pitchers during a tasting with Garrett Oliver the same evening. As of Garrett this was a 2011 vintage.
Very dark brown to black color, dark brown head. Sweet, grainy, malty scent. Sweet, malty, chocolate taste. Medium mouthfeel, medium low bitterness.
On tap at the Draught House. Brown pour with a tan head. I get some nutty and toffee notes in the aroma. The flavor has some light maple as well as some nuttiness and toffee. There is also a hint of grape in there. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. ROGUE (2215) - Lewes, Delaware, USA - SEP 10, 2013
On tap at Capones. Pours a deep dark brown color with a thin, dark tan head. Smell is chocolaty and nutty, with nice roasted malts. Sweet malts up front with a faint bitter twinge, a bit of nuttiness near the end, with more lingering malty sweetness. Slick and sweet with a creamy body and moderate carbonation. DoublEE (782) - South Euclid, Ohio, USA - AUG 21, 2013
The taste starts out with sweet flavors of maple, nuts, caramel and coffee. Then a hearty roasted malt character comes in. The hops presence is good for the style and creates a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly bready.
