The Brooklyn Brewery is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. We are fortunate to be a part of the incredible cultural renaissance Brooklyn has enjoyed during the last quarter century. Four great Brooklyn artists whom we met along the way—Fred Tomaselli, Roxy Paine, Joe Amhrein and Elizabeth Crawford—have created special labels for our Silver Anniversary Lager beer. We are saluting our beginnings with a special doppelbock version of the Brooklyn Lager we introduced in 1988. This beer is re-fermented in the bottle and will taste great today or years from now. The original was inspired by the beers of 19th Century New York and Vienna.

Interesting dopplebock - Served at a good temperature with a colossal, cream-colored, foamy, frothy, billowy head that settled to a light cover after a bit and some lace. Color is a hazy medium amber. Aroma is firstly hops, resin, citrus, malt, spice, bread. Flavor has the hop back way off, malt come thru a lot more, quite dry and some tang. Body/carbonation are killer. Finish is like flavor, on the short side and very drinkable. Delish beer! Thanks to Pat and Karen for the treat!

750 ml. corked and caged bottle. 9% ABV per the label. Pours a thick gradually collapsing ivory head, with extensive lacing, over a clear, dark amber (SRM 15) body.....nose is light dried fruits, including raisin and plum, hints of brown sugar and cola, minimal hops....taste is hint of sweetness to start, then light dried fruit tones, finishing dry with moderate bitterness....mouth feel light of medium, slight alcohol warmth, carbonation low with a light acidity. This is different from many Doppelbocks. It is somewhat drier than most, and has more bitterness than many. The malt backbone, while present is not as complex nor a dominant as it could be. It was, naturally, a technically well made beer. BJCP 7/3/13/4/7

Flaska från SB. Drucken på ölföreningens julöl 2013. Välhumlad dubbelbock med rejäl beska. Drar åt en östkust- DIPA. Torr, stram, mycket gul citrus, gräs, citronskal, rejäl beska. Lite kantig och sträv kanske men annars trevlig.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream head. Bready yeast aroma with spice and malt. Bready and yeasty flavor with mineral, light lemon, and light caramel. Medium bodied. Light lemon and malt linger with light mineral, yeast, and light spice.

olsvammel (7225) - Örebro, SWEDEN - NOV 22, 2013
Sample at Systembolaget tasting. Light citrusy smell, fresh. Similar taste. Feels a bit ordinary, doesn’t stand out in a particular way.

Koelschtrinker (20398) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - NOV 21, 2013
Fruchtiger, hell malziger Antrunk. Mit der Zeit hopfiger und insgesamt intensiver werdend. Leichte Karamellnoten, wenig alkoholisch, was ins Gesamtbild passt. Hopfiger Ausklang. 12/11/12/11/9/12
